Toronto 228 Wilson Avenue | 57m | 17s | Verdiroc | CGL Architects

Terrible

it is too tall! should be in line with other's in the area, 5-7 stories.
With only 2.5 meter set back traffic will be affected!

edit: already posted. they didn't show up first time I looked at the thread. oops.

A former hydro house. I wonder why Hydro no longer needs the substation.

As for the building, I totally concur with Scarberian's thoughts a year back wrt the renderings. Looks rather hemmed in and cheap.

Setting the bar at the pitiful level currently along this stretch is pretty sad.

This area is ripe for intensification, and hardly has a village vibe to it.

The project was approved by Council in August 2014 with amendments, and Section 37 funds were allocated:

But it looks like this project is dead. First, the link to the website doesn't work anymore. Second, I passed by the site this afternoon and it's abandoned. The sun-bleached and worn hoarding suggests the site has been like this for a long time.

The sales centre is also boarded up:

It's gone from Kartelle's website too. Having the 401 running past it would be a bit of a challenge.

**NEW** 228 Wilson Avenue – Community Information Meeting

Monday, Sept 12, 2016 6:00-7:30 pm at Armour Heights Community Centre, 2140 Avenue Rd.

The property is now being sold to Verdiroc (see website http://www.verdiroc.com/market-rental-housing/ ). The building envelope remains as 17 storeys but Verdiroc is planning to provide Rental Units rather than condos. In their Building Application they increased the number of rental units to 142 (34 additional units / a 31% increase to the original plans). We understand they also want to only provide 4 levels of parking instead of 5 (so a decrease in the original condo-to-parking arrangement of 118 owner spots and 22 visitor spots for 108 condos) despite the increase in the number of units. We do not know the fate of the 479 m2 of indoor amenity space that was originally planned – party room and a games room on the second floor and a pool and fitness room with change room facilities on the third floor.

Like a phoenix rising from the 401's sooty exhaust residue

I love how in renderworld this building is situated next to a pristine meadow. I'm sure there are some deer frolicking just out of frame. Anyway, probably a wise move to go rental here, north facing units would be a damn hard sell.
