Toronto 2150 Lake Shore | 215.75m | 67s | First Capital | Allies and Morrison

Circuses.

This was Sunday, at about 2 PM. The big top is ¾ of the way up. Global, City-tv, and CBC are there along with us.

We head into the tent to see it raised the last ¼ of the way.

And it's up!

Here are the before and after pics from all the over at Park Lawn on the west side of this site:

The curtain goes up for previews on April 7, while opening night is April 19. Runs until sometime in June.

If you would like to see the full process of raising the tent, the two unedited files that the edited video above was made from are here:

That's a lot of housing that's been approved for a long time being paused for a summer for a circus...weird that the city would be cool with that given it's such a big amount of affordable housing in their queue...

Aw it's so sad, because they havent seen absolutely nothing yet. This area is going to be a complete zoo once this whole development is complete, and unlike Cirque it wont be a temporary thing.

Thought I'd post a couple of shots of this site while the circus is in town.

Can't figure out what to call the first one. Eau du Cirqleil? Cirque du Eauleil?

Well, it was tough to pick which one, but I call the second one Photo of the Day tomorrow!

Meanwhile, this was from last night (and we absolutely loved it!)…

As it will take quite a while for 2150 Lake Shore to redevelop, and this does not cover the Phase One area of this site, I imagine that this has been located and the grounds prepped so that Cirque may be able to return to this spot over the coming years… Now if only Phase One and therefore Park Lawn GO station would open sooner than later…

Not to be too tangential here, but I know a family of 5 who attended last week; they enjoyed the show, but there was some muttering about the cost of the tix. The five tickets were $800
There are an enormous number of salaries to be paid here, so the tickets are not cheap, but you can certainly get them for less than that $800 for 5, and I think you could sit anywhere in the house and get a good view.

Well yes, Cirques, concerts, restaurants, and most sporting events have become out of reach to the masses. Do they want 2 hours at the circus or feed their kids Mr. Noodles for 3 weeks? Those that can afford it think it's reasonably priced, of course.
