Thoughts after posting:

Interesting that they aren’t removing the sidewalk/curb - wonder if they’re not going to open the widened section until the condos are up? Maybe agreement allows developer to use the land for staging?

Yesterday - still diggin.

There are more (and very similar) photos on the https://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threa...-174-86m-54s-pinnacle-hariri-pontarini.20950/ thread - and I think the road is actually being built by them as part of their site plan.

The plan is to straighten out and widen Lower Sherbourne between Lake Shore and QQE so it lines up better with Lower Sherbourne on south side of QQE and to build a new street. (The street was narrowed when they built the southerly 'leg' of Sherbourne Common and the aim is to return it to 2-way traffic.) I assume they have done all this excavation so that they can put down new conduits and services like water and then will add lots of gravel road base and that in 2026 they will deal with joining it to the existing Lower Sherbourne (which probably needs to be fully reconstructed in that block. They cannot keep excavating as they would interfere with the hydro poles and I assume they will bury the hydro wires in this block as part of the work. Once the wires are buried, the poles can go so excavation can move a bit further east.
