No retail of any kind at the base, looks like. That's a shame. It's not a terrible development, Laird being a major avenue, but the total lack of interaction with the residents during the planning phase is diametrically opposed to how Shane Baghai handled his development down the street on Southvale. This sort of "put your head down and march straight to the OMB" approach to building is extremely unfortunate.

They're reusing the heritage facade with just a single doorway in the middle of the facade. I wouldn't want to see it cut up for storefronts. Nonetheless, they could have gone with an interior mall. It doesn't seem right to have so much retail across the street and nothing on this side.

This report recommends that City Council approve the alterations proposed for the heritage property located at 150 Laird Drive in connection with a proposed development of the subject property and that Council grant authority to enter into a Heritage Easement Agreement for the subject property.

North York Community Council has approved the development. Toronto city council must still approve the decision at its Dec. 17 meeting.

The heritage property at 150 Laird Dr. was home to Dominion Motors of Canada, which arose out of the Depression-era demise of Durant Motors of Canada, a subsidiary of a Michigan company of the same name, according to the city's background report. The two-storey office building was built in 1928 in Late Gothic Revival style and remains a landmark today.

The developer has proposed two new buildings, one being seven storeys tall, and the other eight.

The eight-storey building will incorporate the old 'Dominion Building' as its base.

The eight-storey building would be for retirement rental accommodations, and the seven-storey building would be a retirement condominium. The two buildings would have 23,561 square metres of older adult living accommodations.

What do you do while waiting for your Wrangler to get "Krowned" on a cold Saturday morning? You take pics!

I come out to this area maybe once or twice a year, what's noticeable is that the industrial/single story spaces (area) footprint is shrinking. Malls/car dealerships and residential buildings are becoming more prevalent.

The Crosstown station really opens the door for further intensification up there along Laird near Eglinton. This other 2-building project just a bit south is also an indicator of things to come in the area:
