I hate the railing on the roof of the middle building. There's no better way to announce that only the façades have been preserved than to plunk a modern railway on the roof that screams "condo amenity" for the overbearing, mediocre tower behind.

Agreed. It's disrespectful to the original buildings on the site that already have been reduced to less than a third of their initial footprint. At least setback the railing a good few feet so you can let there be space between the "amenity" and the edge of these heritage structures....or else it ends up looking clumsy like it does now with the deep red building.
