Well I saw in person what I expected would happen on Friday. Waiting at Richmond and York to cross the street I saw a cyclist on a Toronto bike share bike ram right into that dopey micro traffic island they added.
She was knocked off the bike and her head smacked on the ground, but she was wearing a helmet.
Thankfully, she was OK, or at least she insisted she was, though it took her about 30 seconds before she was ready to let us help her up and stand on her own. We did check a bit, and she could move her arms and fingers fine, so nothing broken, but I wonder if the next one will be as lucky?

Also, a special hello to the cyclist who screamed at us to "move the fuck out of the way" while we were helping her stand back up so he could go through the bike lane. Real class act.

Most of the overhead is now up at Adelaide & York. TTC still, VERY slowly, putting up hangers and getting ready to install power on Adelaide itself. I think they may now have installed all the missing poles too.

In my opinion this "traffic island" seem poorly done, I presume the city tried its best to make it work, but due to

1) the constraints on it's location due to the streetcar track (the streetcars turning East to North need to clear it)

AND

2) the non-standard location of the bike lane on the left side of Adelaide

they couldn't just copy an off-the-shelf design for a protected intersection at that corner, and what they come up with is not ideal.
