Nice! Between this and the Shake Shack going into Union Station I will be able dramatically increase my local smashburger consumption.

Around the north side of the former Sun building, along King East, I noticed last week that there is a new Firehouse Subs and Tahini's Mediterranean going in to the vacant unit that was formerly an upscale kitchen store. I'm unclear whether this is two separate businesses or one conjoined business.

OT Unsolicited opinion: while Shake Shack and Burger Priest have near identical offerings, I would choose Burger Priest 9/10 times. I tried two different burgers from Shake Shack and I was disappointed as the Burger Priest counterparts were more flavourful and satiating.

With market lane getting a refresh soon, I figure we ought to kick the watchdog on this neighbouring lane construction.

What gives? This has been blocked off, in one form or another, for over a year now. It says under construction yet it remains untouched. Is there a persistent issue with the floor vents? Why not block it off with a planter?

If nobody has context to share, I’ll redirect my grievance to the BIA. I suspect this is a private land owner’s responsibility but it is public space so the city should at least be able to apply some pressure.

This is the property of MARKET SQUARE and is private space, I think, their hydro transformers are in these vaults. They fixed all the other parts of this 'on top of garage' area but no doubt coordinating repairs with Toronto Hydro is time consuming.

I wonder if we''re going down this road...

Chriatmas markets as a whole are overpriced.

I have friends and family in Budapest who have told me several times how much of a ripoff their main Christmas Market is.

The locals can't afford it and the tourists see it as useless souvenirs which aren't worth the money.

Unfortunately, these are not the Christmas markets of 1950s Europe.
