Are they putting parallel parking on Square One Drive?

That was the old parking lot area that was about 3' higher than Sq One Dr and had 2 driveway to it. With the roundabout, the west driveway had to be removed.

They moved that driveway east to where the 3 way stop is now and it will be come a 4 way stop as well slopping the old parking lot to it.

New sidewalks will be built along Sq One Dr on both sides to deal with the traffic flow to the college considering there was none there before. There was only a small section of sidewalk there before on the north side.

I have photos of this area going back many years some where.

I have photos going back 5 years of every intersections and roads from all angles in the city core that show what was there before the building started.

drum118 - that explains the bottom picture where we're seeing the south portion of the lot across from Zeller.

I was there the other days and noticed that the entrances and exits to the roundabout itself narrow to one lane, but have a 2 lane width the entire length in front of Sheridan along Duke of York, where it does seem they'll be adding street parking. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to go out to 2 lanes for 100m, only to narrow it back down to one at each roundabout.

If you look at the photos of mine in post #291, you will see its only a single lane in each direction with no layover parking. At LAC intersection, the road goes to 2 lanes.

To my best knowledge, there is no on street parking on Duke of York or Sq One Dr being plan for at this time other than west of LAC.

There has to be 2 lanes in front of Zeller for turning into the parking lots on either side of Sq One Dr.

I prefer to see Sq One Dr remain a single lane on Sq One Property to cut down on the speeding that take place there now considering the speed limit is 20km in the first place with no turning lanes.

The pics in post #291 don't show Duke of York at all. Look up at the first 2 pics that Jasonzed most recently posted, where he's looking southbound along DoY, specifically the first one to left of the yellow machine and in the second pic right below the light poles on either side of the street.

The street is 2 lanes wide, but the entry and exit points to the circle are a single lane only. If they are in fact going to place multiple roundabouts down the length of DoY, then it would make complete sense for the curb lane to be parking all the way down rather than let drivers jump out and back in over such short blocks. A bus stop directly in front of the school makes complete sense also, though I doubt the articulated buses will ever be used on that road any more.

Only got a few shots today as I forgot to recharge the batteries. See the Roundabout thread for today photos and view.

I prefer the east side of the school to the west, and not a fan of the south end 'stalks' at all - they're just trying too hard.

The new road in front of the College as well the extension to Confederation Dr opens on Aug 22 on or about 2:30 pm. This includes the Roundabout. Peel police will be on hand to deal with any issues that may arise.

A lot of concrete still has to be pour for the centre section as well the sidewalk.

There is a coffee shop located in the north east corner as you enter the building on your right hand side. There supposed to be an out door area for this coffee shop. Not sure who holds the right to it.

The section of Duke of York in front of the college will see layover bays for both direction and a mistake.

Still a fair amount of exterior work still to be done, let alone inside.

I was in the area today and got some shots of the ongoing work on the roundabouts.

And on a related note, I came across some educational pamphlets on display at Square One about how to drive a roundabout. No doubt everyone will have to learn pretty quickly what they are expected to do and not to do.

I can understand tapering the entrances to the roundabouts, but don't see why they would taper the exits to one lane also - especially towards the median which forces drivers to make a tighter right turn to exit. I would think being to exit into a wider lane or with a wider turn radius would make more sense, no?

Orientation session have been taking place this week in the building with access from the south end only.

Still a fair amount of work to be done before classes starts. The north main entrance has yet to see concrete and only 3 days to do it before the Roundabout and the Sq One Dr extension opens.

Most of the trees in the centre of the Sq One extension are in place, but a lot items missing. The centre of the Roundabout has yet to see work.

The sod for the SQ One Dr extension from Confederation Dr to the Sq One Mall is in sad shape with most of it still to be installed.

New streetlight poles were installed on Tuesday.

By rights, another week is needed to finish most of this work before opening up everything as plan for the 22nd.

Here some inside shots I could get today. A lot of work still to be done on the inside before classes start, let along the outside.

Paving of the Roundabout was underway and will be finish tonight, so the striping of crosswalk areas can be done by the weekend.

They are going to have to close Sq One Dr in front of Sheridan daily next week to get the rest of the concrete pour for the sidewalks.
