TRCA recently clear-cut a forested patch on the slope from Chorley Park to the Mud Creek ravine. They plan to build a 3-metre wide paved switchback trail from Astley to the Mud Creek trail, with significant additional hardscape to prevent the erosion that will result from...uh...cutting down all the mature trees. No meaningful community consultation of course. I've taken my kids and my dog for walks through that forest for the past 15 years or so, and I'm really sad that even if TRCA's nutbar plans are stopped by a last-minute community push, that forest still won't regenerate over my lifetime.
