Rob Ford's Toronto

I would rather see the Ford's go down for abusing public trust, abuse of office, fraud related to land deals etc than any amount of drug or violence related crimes.
I just want to see them go down, I really don't care what for so long as it sticks. I expect they are guilty of, either directly or indirectly, all of the above (and who knows what else).

For what it's worth, another post from reddit:

My cousin is a TPS officer (the only Somali cop in the TPS, SOMALIA!!) and he says rumours are swirling through the service that Ford is gonna be charged. Whenever he asks his unit commander, he says just wait and see.

He already almost lost his job over abuse of office. He just rationalized it to make it look like he was the victim. His supporters ate it up.

Can't it be both? Why limit the fun to just one type of mendacity or the other? Hit him with everything, sez I.

I predict "the only Somali cop in the TPS" is about to get in trouble for spreading rumours to a cousin who doesn't seem to have very much discretion when posting it online.

I totally agree and I've always thought subways are better and we should have many more lines. But people have to be realistic. The Scarborough subway is the wrong subway at the wrong time. There isn't the volume to justify it in that area, and it will suck transit funds from everywhere else for years to come.

In an ideal world, we would be working on 10 subway lines at once right now. But we don't have unlimited funds. We're not Dubai, where some conglomerate of rich sheikhs can just decide to manufacture entire islands in the shape of a palm tree in the sea, and pay overtime to get it done in 5 years. Even cities like New York and London that have multiple lines built most of them long ago in a different economic time. It's great to think ahead and build for the future, but right now the money's just not there.

the money is there ... under-assessed property taxes from lower than surrounding GTA mill rates for the past 3 decades.

I predict that we will discover that there are much more than one Somili cops in Toronto and there will be no consequences to any individual cop.

Well, there's no way of tracing THAT source, is there? /facepalm

Oh, I'd say that Doug the Thug's involvement in any of Slob's less-than-legal shenanigans is anything but accidental. Don't forget, Rob is genuinely a moron, while Douggie is known as being (well, comparitively) the more intelligent of the pair. If anything, I'd figure Doug's the one calling the shots. At the very least, they're partners in crime.

Of course, this is all speculation. Who knows, really?

If circumstances really do come to these two shitstains getting into serious trouble with the Law - including facing down a potentially lengthy stay at Her Majesty's pleasure in a dank prison cell featuring all the trimmings - I wonder if the ever-so vaunted Ford Family Loyalty will continue unabated...or will the boys each finally turn on one another in a feeble attempt to save their own worthless skins? The thought of Doug-o throwing his brother under the bus (and the subsequent look of betrayed astonishment on Slob's stupid fat face when it happens) is absolutely heart-warming, isn't it?

Maybe each will incriminate himself in trying to throw the other under the bus. Doug assumes he can emerge unscathed from the fall of the House of Ford, only to find himself sharing a cell (unlikely, I know) with his little bro, who still doesn't understand how he was caught ...

Rob (bottom bunk): But Jones, I did everything you told me to!

Doug (top bunk): (through clenched teeth) Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!

I hope that was sarcasm ...

Look buddy, I don't want to hear it. I've got car payments to make! My neighbour has two BMWs so it's only fair that I should have a BMW too. All I know is I'm tired of paying for downtown arts projects like tree-hugging lesbian opera classes for immigrants. One of my bedrooms doesn't even have a TV in it because the LRT put my taxes up and clogged up the streets when I'm trying to drive to work. Now we have to pay $160 tickets too just for grabbing a coffee. It's socialism.

At least Rob Ford is out there standing up for the little guy every day unlike all the lefties on Council who are addicted to spending our money on queer bicycle paths. If you don't like it, go back to Russia.
