That made me laugh.

Wynne picked today to make a big deal out of shunning Mayor Ford so as to take away the attention from her appearance in the afternoon before the committee looking into the cancellation of the gas-fired plants. A clever way of diverting attention from her involvement in the corrupt scheme that cost the taxpayers over a $Billion to save two Liberal seats in the last election. Wynne wants to shun Mayor Ford because his friend was busted for pot possession. What about her very close friend and adviser who was busted not long ago for child porn? Should we be shunning Kathleen Wynne because she associates with pedophiles?

Fuck's sake.

I think it's pretty safe to say that Wynne didn't know what he got up to in his private time. What a useless false comparison. I know the right wing radio agenda is to to bring up both those stories whenever Ford is discussed, but this board is a little more sophisticated than that.

Ford brothers = media whores.
Doug, who has never seen Rob touch a drop of liquor, reminded the media today that he's never seen Rob with child pornography either.

What?! So keeping with Doug's doubleplusgood manner of speaking, he was actually saying Rob was a pedophile?

You're so delusional.

No ... Wynne is shunning Ford because Ford admitted more than once to buying and smoking crack cocaine. He also admitted to drunk driving. He was quoted as making racists and bigoted anti-gay comments. And finally, he called a press conference to discuss pussy eating.

I really don't think pot possession is the issue. Why are you trying to white wash this?

It is a gross simplification to say Wynne is shunning Ford because his friend was busted for pot. It's that Ford has been the subject of a serious police investigation, has admitted to smoking crack and drinking and driving, likely abuses his wife, and has been stripped of many of his powers by council (to name just a few of his travesties)

Your comparison would be stronger if Wynne held a presser in front of a Esso station calling her former aide a great guy, and refused to let him resign despite the charges against him.

I'm not trying to white wash anything just add some perspective. Yes Ford has done some terrible things in his private life - he could have killed someone with his drunk driving which is unforgivable -but Wynne is a hypocrite with her holier-than-thou attitude given her involvement in the $Billion gas plant scandal. I also think that if and when investigative journalists start digging into the business dealings between Kathleen Wynne's wife's consulting company and the Ontario government some eyebrows will be raised. I think it stinks that the Premier's wife (and hence the Premier herself) are getting an untold number of contracts directly from the Ontario government worth untold millions!

Ford has done some terrible things in his public life (and the list is too long to outline here)--so much so that Toronto children are being shielded from contact with the mayor at public events.

Have it occurred to you that someone could be getting the contracts based on merit and not relationships - as if a sitting premier would be stupid enough to intrude into the affairs of the bureaucracy so that it benefits a spouse directly? Unless you have evidence going down that accusatory route is just bad form. We've been through this discussion before, and this thread really isn't the avenue for you to air your pet conspiracy theories.

FFS, Joe. You really are a tool. In the most malignant, political sense of the word. A useful idiot.

Perspective, huh? Let's take Occam's, shall we? Could it possibly be, maybe, just maybe, that Kelly and Wynne decided to meet so that they might simply demonstrate to the the city, the province, the nation at large ...sigh...the global media and the world at large that this city is not a whirling vortex of shitshow shenanigans? That perhaps we've moved on? That we're actually a functioning polis? If you were trying to assure wobbly stakeholder/investor types that we were, wouldn't you do something such like? Shore up confidence and all that? Or would you cling to your calendar conspiracy? Oh, and the pedo pal thing. Let's not forget that. Jaysus.

Good point about the timing of that meeting. If Wynne was briefed about the investigation she'd find Ford is suspected of a lot more than being friends with a weed dealer though... at least that's what I hear

Like a...? What? Extortionist?

I'm getting very bored of the gas plant becoming the Canadian Benghazi, something the right brings up (typically grossly oversimplified into easily digestible talking points) any time one of theirs is in trouble.
