I think it's a no man's land after today. It's a really divided community. Biggest groups are Italians, then Punjabis and Vietnamese. I think he's milking the Italian vote to keep getting in and the new immgirants can't get involved.

Honestly there were a couple interesting points being made by some of the deputations that unfortunately I feel will fall on deaf ears.

wow I got to say ... hmm, no politically good way of putting this ... Mammoliti has balls ! So in terms of libraries, there was an interesting deputation from a librarian, while a lot of counselors essentially supported her, evident by the silly silly (time wasting questions) questions (i.e. do you disagree with the report .....) So he asks, are you passing out the petitions (the saveOurLibrary site) at library branches themselves (clearly that's illegal as this is from the union) .... of course followed by endless boos. 
Generally all of Mammoliti's comments are along these lines, or worse. So for anyone who doesn't like Ford, or his brother, wow, they must love this guy.

I was down there tonight. Mammoliti was just slow and awful. The few questions he asked, and the few statements he did make were all sullen, lousy attempts to frame the speakers.
Ford, wasn't too bad at all, though. Mind you, all the things he had to do were primarily punctual and formal, like announcing to people the beginning and end of their speaking time - it didn't involve a lot of public speaking or opining by himself. He was a bit timer-happy, though, sometimes not even giving people time to sit down before he'd started the clock. More than one person speaking asked him directly to pay attention.
The only real low point or gaffe I saw him commit was after the TPL representative had finished speaking, she got continuous, thunderous applause. Ford let it go on, then denied a councillor the right to ask the woman a question saying "The minute is up". This rightfully incensed both the crowd and the councillor who had been rightfully denied procedure, and said so. Ford vocally denied it. There was some bickering and to-ing and fro-ing about it. The crowd kept sounding it out. Then, dragging the moment even lower, Mammoliti threatened to put forth a motion to cancel the entire event. Ford backed him up on it.
The substance of anger in the place suddenly got more silent and serious, as did sense of how much bully power was in these two's hands - not a pleasant interval. It would not have been good to see how it might have gone had things gotten worse, but order was restored and questioning resumed. Happily, the councillor denied questioning passed the question on to another, who asked in his stead, to applause.
The range of people there tonight, and their passion for the city was amazing. I've always had a bit of complex with the Toronto I could never quite forget as cold, insular and astringent. I'll be glad to revise my views. The atmosphere at City Hall was amazing - something like a family reunion. Hearing everyone talk, it brought more and more to view about how intimate, intricate and personal the city is. Quite incredible.
It's funny - everything the KPMG report outlined has given us a kind of topographical map of the city's soul. The report has no context, no heart, no humanity to it. But like an X-ray on a negative, it's showed us in inverse how much we possess here.
The most hopeful thing about the Fords is that nothing they try to do will have any substance compared to the measure of what this city possesses in it's citizenry. That any legacy they leave will not be directly of their doing, and not to their credit. I've been angry and worried about the city since they got in. But I'm way more reassured now that, regardless of what happens, Toronto's a pretty amazing place now, and will be in the future.

After all these deputations and with the overwhelming majority of the 13000 people who participated in the survey asked to raise their taxes, it will be interesting to see how Ford could continue to spin his view that Torontonians want what he wants. There is a lot of public support and evidence opposing his view. Could we be headed for a budget showdown like what is currently happening south of the border? It's reckless to play chicken here and we still haven't heard a clear vision for Toronto from Mayor Ford.

At the end of the day, again, Ford is revealed as just a bean-counter with no city-building in mind. The city we have is a great and informed society (and that is largely due to well spent money).
I am heartened to see the timestamps on some of these postings; some of you stayed up pretty late to observe the proceedings.
So, the politics start now. Ford and his cronies have exhibited arrogance and bullying tactics. Respect for Taxpayers = contempt for the public. If the opposition plays a good game, they will be able to paint Ford and cronies into a corner over the next three years. I am totally certain that some Ford allies have been put off, now. Maybe it can't be proven that Ford "flipped the bird" in his car, but he and his allies have already "flipped the bird" to Toronto, and I don't think that bird is going to fly for him at all.

He's already done the spin (or brother Doug has) -- it was all the unions, the "real" taxpayers couldn't attend because they were working, blah blah blah. Not sure where all those hard working Torontonians were after 5 pm, but hey, there WAS a ball game on.

I really disagree with you. This is politics, meaning that councillors will be interested in their own careers too. I am saying that many will back away from Ford's hard-line stances. But, let's see.
