All I've seen thus far is a photo op of the mayor with some purportedly unsavory characters. Who knows how far Gawker & the Star stretched the truth of what transpired in this instance? Not me or any of you.

I agree the Mayor needs to address these issues with full candor. I hope to hear his response soon and then make a judgment. Til then you guys are nothing but a mean spirited lynch mob.

Actually the real tragedy, RC8, is your complete and utter ignorance. I'm not part of any nation other than Canada and condemn all of the mayor's misdoings. I don't however rush to convict him as a drug addict without suitable proof. I've seen nothing of the sort.

As far as Gawker, they are agnostic to the politics but instead pray to the god of Holy Page Views. The more attention they can generate the more eye balls on Gawker.com and the more ad dollars to the owners. If the story fizzles or goes unconfirmed, well I guess they really really thought it was legit right? Who could blame them?

See, he can use the I am too stupid to know defense (like Mel did with Hell's Angel) but that's a reactive response - not a flight/avoidant response, which is pretty much a clear indicator of guilt in most setting.

And better yet - would you be as inclined to believe anyone who engage in a pattern of lies and denial on a habitual basis (and there is a published record of such), putting aside his ideological alignment?

Ok the video is fake or it is an actor pretending to be Ford. Why doesn't he come out and proclaim his innocence? Why was his chief of staff fired in the middle of this scandal? This is not something you expect from someone innocent.

Technically Asparin is a drug. I am sure there are a lot of drug users in society. Equating legal drugs, even if in excess, to illegal drugs is not reasonable. I do not recall exactly what his lie was in that instance, I thought he somhow told a reporter part way through an interview that he would have to check to see if he was charged with something and then responded the next day.

My guess is that he will say that it was lawyers instructions to stay quite.

Money is still dribbling in to Crackstarter, despite the uncertainty of the video's whereabouts. It will come very close to 200k on Monday if it doesn't quite make it over the top. Gawker can easily make up the difference if they think it's still possible to obtain the video. The dealer(s) could at this point have some kind of Maurice Levy/Saul Goodman type lawyer on retainer (if everything in cable TV is to be believed) who is counselling their every move leading up to the eventual exchange itself.

Blair's bullying threat a few days ago probably put the fear of God into the dealers and on the lawyer's advice they ditched the cellphones (but not THE cellphone) and went into hiding. The iphone itself is no doubt in a secure place--the lawyers office perhaps? If an arrest is made over the video, then it has to a some point be admitted as evidence. After that I don't know what happens. But I'm sure the video still exists and will come to light some day. But maybe not as soon as everyone wants.

Before my current position I worked as a youth pastor in the Jane and Finch area. As a result I happened to work with some youth who did see themselves placed in jail. Some of them multiple times. Truthfully some of these youth and young men wanted to avoid jail at all costs but i have visited several of them in jail and it sadly doesn't seem to bother them as much as I believe it should. Anyways my personal opinion from someone who worked for 5 years with troubled youth and young men that most of them would trade 200k cash and risk whatever jail time incurs if any.
 
We now have a mayor that for some unknown, but clearly guiltless reason felt the need to go through the backdoors every-single-day to go to work - and going to work late at that. And this from a guy who didn't hesitate to tell reporters to "show some respect" scant weeks ago. Why is that?

According to Don Peat and Daniel Dale's tweets, it took Ford over 90 minutes to get to work this morning. It's gotta make you wonder why it took so long, but I guess the logical answer is he was in a Tim Hortons drive-thru and stuck some magnets on cars in the Cloverdale parking lot. That's about a full day's work.
