It must've been started by someone in the know. Couldn't be just coincidence that the family has gathered by his bedside. It sounds like he's in his final days or hours.

My brother-in-law was put into palliative care for cancer last Friday. I'm flying home for the funeral today. Doesn't sound good.

Palliative care means suspension of any and all active treatments. Treatment is strictly a matter of pain control and ushering in death with dignity.

My father languished in palliative care for nearly 2 months. That said, the statement issued sounds like Rob's time here is limited.
