http://www.thestar.com/opinion/commentary/2015/10/25/harpers-gone-why-not-the-ford-boys-hepburn.htmlwhat makes Rob and Doug think voters want them in power?
Indeed, why don’t the Ford brothers just go away, like Harper has?
If anything, their time is up and their once-heralded “Ford Nation” is a spent political force.
[...]
Like the Conservatives under Harper, the Ford Nation movement has a base of about 30 per cent of voters, people who will stick with the Fords, or Harper, regardless of what mess they make for themselves.
But like Harper, the Fords have no room to grow their support — and they don’t seem to care or try. They never bother to build bridges with voters who don’t see eye-to-eye with them. Instead, they burn them down.
Maybe Doug Ford should run for Harper’s old job. Let’s see just how much support he really does have even among Conservatives. Somehow, though, I doubt Ford will dare to enter the race, afraid of being humiliated.
As for Rob Ford, it’s obvious he’s learned little from his time as mayor. As a city councillor, he’s back feuding with fellow councillors, clowning for the cameras and doing little to make this city better. Such behaviour may excite his media cronies and diehard loyalists, but it’s the main reason the majority of voters will never again put him in the mayor’s chair.
(first, nice to see a post from you again)
something will / better still happen. brazen 2 still hasn't been official closed. and that whole OPP hand off thing was weird / there's gotta be a story behind that.
question though... who would be the police chief's higher powers? the board?
if that is the case, i thought blair was known to not listen to them anyway.

the federal government wouldn't have that much say in this sort of thing, would they?
so, who could have and would have overruled him? and why?
and do you know any specifics on how the OPP messed it up? plus, was it on purpose or not?
To revisit StephanieSandwichgate: in a way, why *shouldn't* Rob & Renata be incompetent at preparing their own sandwiches? It takes *effort* to buy and prepare the fresh goods. In fact, that's how chains like Subway or Mr. Sub thrive: by saving us from the dirty work. Likewise, why else all the trips to McD's, KFC et al?
Who knows, maybe Renata pays the pizza delivery men in the fabled manner of many a 70s porn flick...
SandwichGate revisited
How about this: Rob got told by CAS that no matter what else is going on in his busy personal and professional life, his kids need to get fed on a regular basis.
Maybe Rob sees an opportunity, using his staff resources, to "personally" deliver special lunches to his daughter to prove her family isn't white trash losers and that her daddy loves her very much.
That poor kid, but hey the Fords are all for show.
Would you want to eat a sandwich made by Rob Ford? I'm guessing "No".From a trust fund baby to trust fund grand baby. It also explains all the "keeping up with Jones'" talk.

What's with the venom against an 8 year old girl? Are y'all getting in touch with your inner 10 year olds?
You're sounding to me like Dougie ranting about chasing autistic kids out of the neighbourhood.
Sure, there's a generational thing going on here, and I hope Rob's kids can be saved from turning into their parents, but frankly, special lunches are better than none. May have been the school intervening. And I'd rather have his staff gainfully employed delivering Stephanie's lunch even if it is on our dime. Sounds like one of the better plans Robbie's ever come up with.

fwiw... stephanie doesn't look like she's missed many meals. if anything, dougie needs to be better fed.Rob got told by CAS that no matter what else is going on in his busy personal and professional life, his kids need to get fed on a regular basis.
hmmmm... blair is (sadly) now my MP... maybe i should write to him about this to at least get something out of him being my representative. The federal minister that is alleged to have been protecting the Fords is now unfortunately dead. Whether or not that could still be tied to Harper's office is in question.
Blair now has at his disposal the powers of the most senior government in the land and the direct ear of the Prime Minister. If there's something to be done, now is his opportunity to do it. Is he still interested? Maybe he'd like to catch that last big fish that got away. Maybe he doesn't care at all.
Personally, I don't really care that much. I'm happy to ignore the Fords as long as they don't hold any office of influence again.
I'm just pointing out that the actors who were allegedly protecting Ford are out of power and the one leading the effort to charge him is in a position to push for that charge and/or dig up wrong doing by the former government to protect him.
