of course there is no excuse for it. There never is, or was.

But, to put it in the context of the times, he is 60 years old. This ( if it ever did happen ) may ( or may not ) have occurred 40 years ago. Unlike some politicians, apparently he was never charged with it.

It really wasn't until well into the 1980's that MADD and RIDE really came on strong with the education message, backed up with strict enforcement and heavy penalties.

Not to condone DUI, but I believe there was more of it in the 1970's than today.

Unless the G&M, or someone else, has more on that, stored up until a week or two before voting day, that story does not seem to have much in the way of 'legs' (beyond a few sarcastic comments on Twitter).

Even if he didn't drink and drive, just had "a couple of pops" in his basement, or was chauffer driven to someone else's basement for something a little stronger, what if, gawd forbid, a disaster were to happen on his watch?

Sadly this is what the bar has been lowered to, the mayor smokes crack and his councillor brother was a drug-dealer back in the day, and it doesn't seem to register anymore with most people. I don't know if pulling a "bankruptcy" rabbit out of the hat is going to work against Tory, as many people would just tune that out the same as the two items above. I can't see it as a knockout punch, but you never know in this election.
