An expert opinion concerning Rob Ford's Rehab

"I think this is about him getting caught again. And he's manipulative enough to know how to satisfy the public. There was no 'a-ha' moment where the light went off and he realized he had a problem. It seems like he's seeking help only out of self preservation and not out of an understanding that he has an issue with drugs and alcohol.

He's not being honest. He's telling people what they want to hear so he can continue with his political career later. Ford has a poly-substance abuse problem and he needs a minimum of 100 days as an in patient at a medically licensed treatment centre.

His prognosis for success going into rehab at this point is poor."

Many of us have been paying attention to how D'Angelo may fit into this mess. I; however, will NOT take one for the team and watch his "Real Gangsters" or his new film, "Big Fat Stone".

maybe this needs a revisit (so much to remember!)...

Crooked Cops tied to Frank D'Angelo & Mafia

New information also ties Frank D'Angelo to the Crips and Bloods, two of the biggest, most violent street gangs in North America

[...]

In 2007 Frank D'Angelo was arrested for sexually assaulting a then teenager and later found not guilty in 2009. The two prosecuting lawyers and OPP officer Mike Rutigliano were later caught on camera eating with Frank in D'Angelo's private club 'Forget About It' and charged with conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

And that is when the door opened up to the underworld of the Italian mafia in Canada. Since then its come out the Toronto police have been infiltrated by the mafia, that drug and gun money is being laundered in Toronto through legitimate bank accounts belonging to local businessmen, and this money is being used to pay and supply guns to local gangs (including the Bloods and the Crips).

[...]

Caruana created a new system in Canada... crime bosses no longer needed to shoot each other up over control of territory. Now they were shareholders and it was a peaceful arrangement for everyone. They began developing friendly ties with other crime groups, including the Hells Angels, the Irish West End Gang, the Rizzuto family in Montreal and police forces in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto. When the Vietnamese mob showed up during the late 1980s they made friends with them too. Everyone is happy, including the police who are paid to be quiet.

Court documents allege that Rutigliano "did conspire and agree with Frank D'Angelo and the unindicted co-conspirator Domenic Basile" and others to obstruct, pervert or defeat the course of justice in the prosecution of D'Angelo.

D’Angelo said he has been advertising on Hockey Night in Canada for the last eight or nine years. The last two seasons, he bought the Coach’s Corner spot during the playoffs, and when CBC informed him it had become available this year for the regular season he jumped at it.

“I know Don very well,” D’Angelo continued.

why are some of these ^ names important? from The Sixth Family: The Collapse of the New York Mafia and the Rise of Vito Rizzuto...

From night clubs to fitness clubs, strip bars to fast-food outlets, drugs were being moved at the retail level in Toronto and surrounding cities, replicating the cocaine distribution system that had made Quebec gangsters rich.

http://books.google.ca/books?id=0Zy...q="from night clubs to fitness clubs"&f=false

and finally, to tie it back to rob...

Maybe I’m drawing too many conclusions. Maybe there’s nothing to the mayor’s hanging out with known gangsters who sometimes get killed.

That kind of thing is only supposed to happen in, well, Quebec, where lately it’s hard to find a politician who’s not in the pocket of someone with ties to the Mob or Big Construction.

Not so fast. A Mafia expert with York Region police let slip at the Quebec inquiry last year that police are investigating Mob links to at least one municipal government contract in the GTA.

The city of Toronto is not without it’s own history in this regard.

Rewind to the November 2010 by-election in Vaughan. The winner of that seat, associate defence minister Julian Fantino (T.O.’s former police chief) has come under Elections Canada scrutiny in recent months.

Some of the half-million dollars raised by Fantino during the campaign, former members of the riding association allege, has been funnelled to other Conservative riding associations. (Speculation is that the money funded robocall campaigns. There were also allegations of secret bank accounts in the Caymans, but the federal Ethics Commissioner determined documents furnished to prove that were forgeries.)

Among the usual array of development power brokers on Fantino’s list of contributors is Johnathan Vrozos, another who turns up in Ford’s orbit. Yes, folks, we’ve come full circle.

Eyebrows were raised when it came to light shortly after the mayor assumed office that Vrozos had a sit-down dinner with Ford. Officially, he won the one-on-one at a golf tournament held to raise money for Ford’s campaign.

But a few years earlier, the concert promoter and former bar owner had been involved in the infamous Entertainment District shakedown.

Vrozos was supposed to be a key Crown witness in that case involving cops allegedly taking bribes from bar owners to get around liquor infractions. One of the officers allegedly involved then, William McCormack, is the brother of Toronto Police Association president Mike McCormack. But Vrozos never testified. The charges were eventually stayed because of delays in bringing the case to trial.

A task force ordered by Fantino to look into police corruption at the time was eventually starved of cash and unable to complete its work.

Janina needs a wider audience. This needs to be heard far and wide...

probably when she flunked the lie detector Doug Sr administered when his stash of cash hidden behind some brick in the basement disappeared.

It's a pretty outlandish story, but it goes to show you how messed up that family is. First of all, just the idea of a father hooking his adult children up to a lie detector, is so bizarre. It wouldn't make sense to, oh, I don't know, go to the police and let them figure it out?

Then the fact that he hooked all the kids up to it, shows that the level of bullshit flowing within the family is so high that no one was spared the test. You'd think that Kathy at that point was the royal screw up, and that all signs would point to her. Why not just hook her and her guy up first and be done with it? Obviously Doug Sr. knew that any of his devil spawn could be the one lying effortlessly through their teeth , not to mention stealing wads of cash from their own father. Because you know, you can't teach loyalty right?

iIRC from Doolittle, McIntyre also was tested and "failed".

It seems highly likely that the others were tested because all 5 would have had access to the house and testing "my 3 sons" and having them "pass" would make it harder for Kathy and McIntyre to point to the unreliability of such testing and deny their results.

Also IIRC from Doolittle, the old boy left Kathy a $1 million trust fund controlled by Diane and "the boys" and that is all - no interest in he ownership of the Deco "empire" or other holdings (such as the commercial buildings).

I put it out there on the Twitter. My followers are not plentiful, but every little bit helps.

I have done the same. Ditto re followers, but if you add the hash tag #TOpoli to a tweet it will be widely picked up. (There is a lot of garbage with that tag, but all of the City Hall reporters check it.)

A while ago, you would have simply thought these people were misinformed, perhaps swayed by Ford's lies. But at this point, it's safe to call them fools and fanatics.

Supporters quietly prep for Mayor Ford’s return

The Globe and Mail
Published Friday, Jun. 20 2014, 8:52 PM EDT

For the past two months, Louise Boehler has walked into the small “Rob Ford for Mayor†campaign office in a Scarborough strip mall every morning at about 10 a.m., and performed the same routine.

“I turn the lights on, get the coffee ready,†the 58-year-old mother of two said. She checks the voice messages next – some days, there are as many as 60 messages for Mayor Ford waiting. And by the time she’s done, the volunteers have begun arriving. The rest of her morning flies by co-ordinating them – setting them up with flyers and bumper stickers, then sending them out to canvass the city streets.

Ever since Rob Ford launched his re-election campaign in April, he and brother and campaign manager, Doug Ford, have been tight-lipped about who is on the campaign. While the mayor’s rivals announced teams stacked with well-known political veterans, Doug would only say his is a team of “seasoned veterans.â€

The Globe and Mail was recently given a glimpse inside the Scarborough campaign, where it found a team of volunteers who have continued working quietly since the mayor left at the end of April for a rehab facility in Muskoka. All the high-level decisions at the campaign, including policy, are “on hold,†Doug Ford told The Globe. So for the time being, the campaign depends on the volunteers – like those in Scarborough – to keep momentum going.

“We have the best ground game in the country,†Councillor Ford said of the grassroots campaign. “Bar none.â€

At the centre of the Scarborough office is Ms. Boehler, who has a shock of blond curls and a “Hunks and Hounds†calendar pinned to her desk. She is the only paid, full-time employee at the office, and under Councillor Ford’s direction, is responsible for ground operations for the city east of University Avenue.

Ms. Boehler said she has worked on “many, many, many†political campaigns over the years. About two dozen supporters were at the office when The Globe visited on Mayor Ford’s birthday, and Ms. Boehler spoke with The Globe between her hosting duties – giving tours and ensuring passersby filled out voter information cards.

The Fords approached her while she was working on Liberal MP Chrystia Freeland’s campaign, she said. One senior Freeland campaign organizer said he believed Ms. Boehler had helped with signs on the campaign, though he and other organizers said she did not play a significant role.

Ms. Boehler remains loyal to the Fords because her own brother struggled with substance abuse years ago, she said. “So I do fully understand what he’s been through, what he has to go through, and what has to come of it.†She calls Mayor Ford “a fighter, and he has a strong will in him.â€

She said the only change the campaign made due to Mr. Ford’s absence was to add “foot soldiers.†Mayor Ford is a “heavy canvasser,†so they’ve had to increase volunteers on the ground (she said from about 75 canvassers a day to 100) to make up for his absence.

One such volunteer is Jun Hwang, who described the mayor’s absence as “a bit of a curveball,†but said he’s glad the mayor is getting help.

“We understand the mayor is in a facility, working away, but the grassroot movement hasn’t stopped,†he said.

Another dedicated volunteers is Stefan Ristic, a 26-year-old political science graduate, who works nights as a security guard but still spends most days at the campaign office. He’d like to work in public service – ideally in the mayor’s office – describing Mr. Ford as “a man of the people, a man who truly fights for the city.â€

While canvassing, Mr. Ristic said he’s fended off questions about the mayor’s troubles. On top of admitting to “problems with alcohol,†Mayor Ford has also appeared on two separate videotapes smoking what appears to be crack cocaine. And a Toronto Police investigation into the mayor remains ongoing.

“Yeah, people have brought it up,†Mr. Ristic said. “But I’ve noticed people don’t have anything against his political platform. If people don’t want to vote for him, it’s because of the allegations in the news.â€

Mr. Ristic said the mayor has been missed, but in the meantime the team is getting things ready for his return. And when he does, Mr. Ristic said, “We’re just going to hoot it out the door. We’re going for the win.â€

So you need 25 more people to canvass because Rub can do the work of 25 canvassers. These people are so delusional. I would love to see these 75-100 volunteers, it's more likely 6 or 7 losers looking for a free ride on the Rofo gravy train.
