What did they talk about for almost an hour?

“We talked about the speech, we talked about just how he’s doing and how he’s preparing for his campaign,” Traill said.

She denied that Ford “freaked out” in the stuck elevator.

“No, he was so calm and gracious, he was very, very gracious,” Traill said.

She said Ford was using the freight elevator rather than walking in the front door of the hotel and down an escalator so he could “get in” to the event and “avoid all the traffic.”

Toronto Coun. Doug Ford called his brother’s seemingly drunken ramble in a west-end take-out restaurant Monday night “a setback” and stood behind his political record.

He said he would rather have Mayor Rob Ford on his “worst day, worst night” running City Hall than every city councillor combined on their “best night.”

Ford made the comments on local radio station AM640 Thursday morning after avoiding the media spotlight for two days after he assured reporters his brother wasn’t drinking again just a few hours before the mayor admitted he was off the wagon.

“I didn’t know,” Ford told host John Oakley. “I agree with Rob, it is a minor setback. Rob overall is doing fantastic.

“He just had a minor setback as they say, fell off the wagon, but Rob’s resilient and he hopped back on and he’s a fighter.”

On another note, I've been wearing a "Ford Must Go" button for a few months on my coat. I've been told by many strangers on the TTC that they love the button. Never once has anyone said anything negative, just positive. One lady even told me she'd like to make it into a giant sign for her front lawn!

I hate to say this, but when the Sun or the Nat'l Post do finally decide to rip into Ford they don't mince words and they do it with conviction. Certainly more than the CBC who have become so precautious it's hardly worth reading, but even the Star. I generally cringe at anything printed by the Sun, but the Michele Mandel story was good, and drove the point hard. Why are 'left' leaning rational people in Canada so bloody timid?! A bunch of pusillanimous fraidy cats. Is it because outspokenness is associated with American'ness, which is associated with mindless conservatism? Because that's nonsense. Americans wrote the book on 'left leaning bike-riding pinkos' and they do it with conviction. And so should we.

You can get rich from making "Ford Must Go" lawn signs (perhaps Howard Moscoe can help, as he makes signs and does not like Ford).
