Rob Ford's Toronto

If Doug Ford says "day in and day out" again, please stab me.

Those days are just 3 hours though. ;)

Sloganeering. I like that they are starting to use "Stay The Course" just like good ole George W. We all know the debt that phrase is costing Americans.

Oh dear, my 5000 co-workers are all raging mad lunatics?!

When people make a point of saying that everyone they know agrees with them on something, I picture an aggressive, ticking time-bomb that people know they have to tip-toe around.

""Rob Ford's a great mayor? Uh, yeah, sure guy. Whatever you say..." (backs away slowly)

Cdr108's transcript of what Rob Ford said on the DC-based sports radio show:

I'd rather be taxed to death than not-medically-treated to death. Ford's unerring ability to choose the worst possible way to make a bad point continues to amaze one and all.

Also, I just read that paragraph of Ford's for like the tenth time, and only just realised that he ended with "...to tell the truth". I guess my mind is just that used to editing out empty Fordisms.

You can't afford anything if you're dead.

Ford's understanding of private health care in the United States is profoundly incorrect. There are even a decent number of Republicans that know Americans spend more money on healthcare, and get less; they just don't agree with the ACA.

That's good ol' populist Ford though, parroting talking points he thinks people want to hear.

Ford's so full of shit. Obamacare is the pay-for health care system he claims to support. It's a Republican-created plan that the GOP's now attacking because Obama's the one implementing it, never mind that he's as much of a loyal handmaiden to corporations and the rich as they are. But of course, it's all surface-level, inch-deep propaganda. Fatso probably thinks Obama's a socialist too, seeing as his Tea Party brethren keep screaming it, reality be damned.

"It's the people that decide. Not the media, not the police chief, THE PEOPLE!" - DoFo

Um.. I think the police chief could also decide if he chose to.

RoFo also says he supports the judicial system because they keep failing. 3 times they have failed. And they will fail again. It is simple folks.

Ok, I subjected myself to the Dougie scrum...at least the media is outright laughing at him now. "Sylvia Stalin" is going to be one of my new usernames.

Anyone have more info on this club? The Star said it was on Bloor, west of Prince Edward, and seemed to imply it was hastily gutted by RdB, perhaps in the wake of his association with Ford coming to light.

i believe this is the most we know...

One of those is Romeo DiBattista, a businessman involved in the recycling industry, who owns an after-hours club (which was gutted after the Star began asking questions) on Bloor St., west of Prince Edward Dr. in Etobicoke, south of where Ford lives. Ford, Lisi and DiBattista know each other and both had spent time at the club, the Star’s ongoing investigation has shown.

The police document reveals a meeting between Lisi and DiBattista, and police describe a “notebook†they have obtained that appears to be Ford’s and includes DiBattista’s telephone number.

Like many people close to Ford and Lisi, DiBattista responded aggressively when a Star reporter found him at his club and began to ask questions, particularly about a night at the club where Ford was present.

“Are you f---ing kidding? I can’t talk to you about that s---,†DiBattista said, when approached in his black Chevrolet Suburban SUV. DiBattista took off, his tires squealing.

There is no indication in the document that police have spoken to DiBattista.

I just watched it too, it's amazing that he actually believes that a 60 pound weight loss is the answer to all of Rob's (and our) problems. WOW. The Ford family holiday dinners must be something to behold, delusion served with gravy.

His utter cluelessness is astounding...I guess he was trying to make some kind of "commie" connection but Pravda was the official government newspaper. I'm sure he wishes he had his own Pravda to use...instead he's got Youtube, I guess.

I noticed that information pertaining to Renata wasn't released yesterday. I thought the only things to be left redacted were details involving sensitive police details like surveillance techniques and whatnot.

Also, Peeper isn't a troll. He's just someone who doesn't happen to share the same opinions as most people here. IMO, I'd much rather read his posts than ones that say nothing more than "Ford is a sociopathic idiot" and blah blah blah. I see no value in that kind of stuff at all, but it seems to be common currency around here. For better or worse, at least Peepers brings something else to the table.

He did lay out three exceptions — that people’s personal identifiers, such as addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and license plate numbers remain blacked out, that details pertaining to Mayor Ford’s wife Renata also be concealed as she was going through “personal problems†at the time of the investigation, and that specific parts identified by Mr. Lisi’s defence lawyer that may risk his client’s right to a fair trial be kept from public view.

(also... for what it's worth... i agree about peepers. while i don't always agree with them, peepers' posts add a lot to this thread, while the posts slagging peepers do not.)
