Restaurant Comings & Goings

Not disputing that!
I just hope you've also tried Jerk King not far from their Bloor location. Both great places for jerk chicken, but I prefer Jerk King (Bloor & Bathurst) for chicken legs & rice and Scotty Bons (Bloor & Spadina) when I am in a mood for a sandwich with Jerk chicken meat.
Yes, Jerk King is also good as far as flavour, but I don't like that they don't have any boneless chicken options. That's why I remain a staunch Island Foods and Roywoods loyalist. I will say though their beef patties are the best I've had anywhere.

Golden Horseshoe BBQ at Christie and Dupont passed their final inspection today and announced their grand opening this Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am until sold out.

It appears I was wrong! McDonald's will be keeping Queen/Spadina open when Dundas/Spadina opens. However, the new one will be designed more for bike couriers in mind.

Like the former Mcdonalds Express locations in the 1990s.

They had one at Markham and Eglinton which had no seating. It was take out only.

Cote de Boeuf will be opening a second location of their restaurant in the former spot of By the Way Cafe at Bloor & Brunswick in the Annex. They aim to open by December this year

Tried out the new Peaceful Restaurant on Bloor which I guess has five or six locations in and around Vancouver. It was fine but nothing I would get excited for in the future. Decent beef noodle soup.

Papa Johns coming to Leaside, Millwood Road.

Was supposed to have September opening but still lots of work to be done.

The building on the northwest corner of King and Spadina has lived many lives—it’s been a TV studio, an iconic hostel and, most recently, a café. But it started life as the Richardson House, a 60-room hotel in 1875. And it’s that history that drew Yannick Bigourdan to the space. The Carbon Bar—his restaurant that he refers to as “the mothership” and his new project’s big-sister spot—is also housed in a historical building, on Queen East.

Ryan says the idea for his new restaurant, Alebrije, had been percolating for years. He grew up eating Tex-Mex food and says those punchy flavours—high acid, lots of spice, plenty of freshness—stuck with him. “Mexican food is one of my favourite things to eat,” he says. “I love the cuisine and the culture and the flavours.”

Christine and Andrew Pham—the brother-and-sister team behind Big Trouble, Midnight Market and Midnight Arcade—have just added another notch to their cocktail-bar belt: the Lonely Diner, in the former home of the greasy spoon Mars Diner.

The Pham siblings didn’t just fall into the restaurant industry: they were born into it. “My dad owned Last Temptation and later opened the Green Room and Nirvana,” says Christine. “My brother and I used to play pool at Last Temptation as kids, and we always helped out where we could.”
