Restaurant Comings & Goings

The Y&B outpost of McEwan was always terrible; it was too small, too hidden, no natural light, poor selection/depth.........just not a good move by him. If he had pulled an Eataly, a highly visible ground floor entrance to a second level, at 3x the ft2, he probably could have done well.

McEwan's Don Mills out post has decent seafood offer, not as large as some might like, but good quality.
Oof. Eately is going to be across the “street” from McEwan.

Oh this is sad!

Smoke's Poutinerie Inc. says the founder of the fast-food chain has died.
The company attributed the Sunday death of 50-year-old Ryan Smolkin to unexpected complications from a recent surgery.

Awful.

He always gave off such a good energy. I definitely over-indulged with their menu during my Ryerson days.
I recall many late night stops at I think was one of the original locations on Dundas across the street from Filmores. It was always such an eclectic mix of customers there after dark.
He really nailed his business idea and ran with it to great success.
