I find it hard to reconcile "left of centre" with her full-throated support for Doug but I suppose it's possible.

In 2014, Wynne was left of the NDP. In 2018, the NDP probably leapfrogged them though.

Hazel is not a hard-L Liberal - she is, and has always been an opportunist that blows however the wind blows. A populist at heart.

Question: If both provincial and federal governments have been "so far left" the past decade, why is income disparity in Toronto growing so quickly? Why is there so much homelessness? Why does infrastructure lag?

Based on what I learned in school, neoliberalism.

but, on topic, curious to see whether Hazel can actually do anything decent with this file. I have to think there's someone a bit more "hip" out there but maybe someone who helped create the problem has a good perspective on how to fix it.

I'd say it's likely because the goal of the left (maybe not the stated goal, but the result of their governance) is to lower the overall standard, and rely on a few very rich donors to support you.

Faith started in 3rd and finished in 3rd.
Even though the 4th and 5th candidate were promoted and invited to several debates.
The actions of the media helped kill her campaign and ensured that the issues were not talked about. This likely contributed in some way to the record breaking homicides in Toronto last year.
