I think that's a very uncharitable interpretation of the concern here.
 
The Horror! Density, in downtown! who would have dared to think that?!?!!

A lot of anti development 1970's Toronto is still hanging around. (though that mindset saved Toronto in many ways then, I feel it is overplayed today)

What he's saying is that socialised housing should be heavily concentrated into one very small area of the city as it's not good for them to be spread out and integrated throughout. ;)
 
This is fairly integrated, or at least it will be once completed. The recent approval of Daniels increasing the amount of condos in the development will only help things.

The project has been pretty well done so far, but with this contentious bit, it seems like Daniels is attempting to meet their quota of affordable units by concentrating a large number of affordable units in one area - which flies in the face of the entire effort.
 
I don't understand, the affordable units are fairly spread out for what they have built so far.. You honestly can't really tell the difference between a Condo and a TCHC building.

Fairly soon judging by what I saw earlier. Was out walking the dog and noticed a lot of fencing up with Pro Green Demolition signs on it. There's demolition equipment on site as well.

All the houses are vacant as well as one of the high rises. 14 Blevins still has people in it as well as the tower facing onto Dundas.

I should say its just the buildings south of Dundas so far.

Yeah, though quoting Demographia is just BS...and having the former CEO and identifying him as such as if nothing had gone wrong in the piece is gold. The article is sh*tty - considering the St. Lawrence experience (not to mention the presence of social housing in neigbhourhoods that are more or less socioeconomically well off) already told us mixing works in the long term years ago.

I'd like to consider the possibility of including some offices here, for example some city or provincial offices. It would improve the mix and help integrate things more.
