Toronto Mayor David Miller is officially opening the Toronto Railway Heritage Centre and Roundhouse Park today at 10 a.m. The new centre will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. during Doors Open Toronto on Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30. As you can see from the photos the centre includes a miniature railway for the kids. Within the Roundhouse Steam Whistle will be providing Doors Open access as well as guided tours of the brewery. So miniature trains for the kids and cold beer for the adults. Can't beat that.

A special notice to UrbanToronto fans and members. While Steam Whistle will be open both Satuday 10 AM until 6 PM and Sunday 10 AM until 5 PM, UrbanToronto suggests you plan to be there on Saturday at Noon or 1 PM when Steam Whistle's architect, Dave Taylor of Ware Malcolm, will be on hand to present the design process of creating a brewery in a historic industrial building. Come see the building, enjoy the beer, and come and meet us along with fellow UTers amongst the crowd.

Map of the area include route for the miniature railway. What was a desolate park a few years back is certainly coming to life.
