PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

Another angle I hadn't considered, is Freeland running for leadership. I don't think she would have stayed on for any other reason (if she doesn't leave as I suggested above... with Carney shoed into finance?)...

Of course everybody thinks they're special, but if Freeland is thinking about running for leadership, she should probably have a call with Kim Campbell first.

But why is she staying on? I couldn't think of any other reason after being in the #2 spot...

To spite Justin. That's why she went to the caucus meeting the same day, sitting in the back row. Freeland won't run again, IMO. She's destined to the World Bank or UN or something to do with Ukraine. Trump's latest attack on Freeland gives her cred with the Euro'crats.

Pretty hard to get those jobs when the current POTUS opposes the nomination, and the current government (assuming CPC) may not support it, and the allies consider the country making the nomination to be a freeloader.

IDK, the Libs have increased defence spending by over 60% since Harper's 0.98% 2014 budget - it takes time. Meanwhile, Canada now ranks among the top 10 donors of military aid to Ukraine. Most of NATO were well below their 2% targets. I agree though that Trump will block any appointment, so only those jobs where POTUS does not have a vote will apply.

Anyone else sick of hearing Mark Carney’s name? Looks like we missed a bullet by avoiding this chap.

I had never heard he's that rich. This article has a lot of detail, and he's clearly well off, but not an aristocrat/royalty like @richardwhite. It doesn't even mention going to any Leafs games!

Tens of millions is the correct order of magnitude for Jagmeet.

Towards the upper range of that.

Don't let his modest taste in cars fool you...........the Maserati and BMW are in not reflective of his wealth.

****

I must admit, I find it a bit hilarious that he was known for awhile for riding a bike.

I won't say it was just for show, that would be unfair.............

But.....

It was kind of undercut by his taste for expensive suits and watches.

In my job, I meet quite a few very rich guys who love riding bikes. Not just for show, though there is a sort of competition to have the fanciest/rarest bike. One year, the first time I did the Ride to Conquer Cancer, one of them loaned me a bike. I had an issue with the shifting and dropped by a bike store to get it looked at, and the bike mechanic immediately said "Is that John Smith's bike?!?" It was apparently a one-of-a-kind in Toronto.

Anyways, I had no idea Singh was that wealthy. I thought he was just lawyer-bro wealthy.

I hang out with rich guys who bike, some of whom do indeed have very distinctive bikes. They tend to ride for pleasure/recreation rather than function, however. So while they will ride 100 km on a Saturday to get a latte, they won’t ride 1 km to pick up a quart of milk.

This is very true, though a bunch of them do bike from places like High Park, Kingsway, etc. to work at the towers at Bay and King.

That is awesome if they do. The guys I know aren’t working downtown, although when they do head that way they will use GO.

Apparently a cabinet shuffle is imminent.

Possibly as soon as tomorrow.

This will address Ms. Freeland's departure but also show the door to other ministers not running again.

Apparently Beaches-EY MP Nate Erskine Smith will be promoted to cabinet, possibly the Housing portfolio.

He had committed to not running again federally, but apparently will keep his name on the ballot now.
