PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

In terms of electoral reform, I think Australia's method of ranking candidates is pretty neat since it allows people to express their top choice more clearly and avoids the problem of certain kinds of strategic voting where people don't actually vote for the candidate they want but the one they don't like but is more likely to defeat the one they dislike the most.

Don't know how popular the idea would be, though.

Another senator is going independent, this time one of the "elected" ones from Alberta. That means there is an independent majority now and the 19 remaining vacancies will also be filled by independents.

The current Senate makeup is 21 independent Liberals, 24 independents, 41 Conservatives and 19 vacancies. Several senators also face mandatory retirement in the next six months.

I fear that it's only a matter of time before Toronto experiences a major terrorist attack. What better city to target than the most most densely populated city in Canada that's crucial to this country's economy.

A suspected ISIS sympathizer believed to be the lone suspect in a suicide bomb plot on a major Canadian city was killed Wednesday during a dramatic police takedown in a southern Ontario town, CTV News has learned. According to an internal government memo obtained by CTV News, the suspect allegedly planned to use an IED to carry out a suicide bombing mission in a public area. His alleged plan, according to the document, was to create mass casualties.

It is foolhardly to believe we're immune. What concerns me is how ready our transit system is to deal with these sorts of crisis.

The transit system is just one of several ways to attack our city. A terrorist could just as well detonate a truck bomb at Yonge & Dundas or King & Bay which would not only inflict massive casualties but also severely damage many buildings.

Larger the scale, more difficult to procure.

^ That's right. Smaller 'lone wolf' attacks are becoming more common and more deadly. And are extremely difficult to prevent and stop.

Another lame attempt by Postmedia to boost their business. They are a penny stock now and will push any minor story to get a few clicks.
