So continuing west from Yonge, I took on a rather short Bay Street that only runs up to Davenport.

A lot of us are already very familiar with it due to the many projects being built on it but hopefully there might be something new that catches your eye.

Enjoy.

Didn't know these still existed. I thought they were all replaced by the new ones.

Wow! Some of those are OUtstanding smuncky. :D

I don't understand the sidewalk photo though.

Thanks for the photos. You've really captured the feel of Bay St. (for better or worse) through your photos.

And judging from your other series of Toronto's streets, I can't wait which street you will hit up next.

That dude picked a really random spot to lie down.

I was wondering, does anyone have any information on the "Urban Clear Way"? You can see the sign on the top of the pole on the corner there. (Looks like a C with an arrow through it). Every time I walk up Bay I wonder what that history behind that is. Seems to me like it might be a relic from the 1950s/60s, aka the auto era.

Great photos, and love the presentation from south to north.

The urban clearway is, I believe, the rules for the right lane of Bay Street, which during rush hour is not to be used except by cabs and buses, or by cars turning left. I could be wrong about that, but I'm pretty sure that's what the signs were for. They are incredibly unclear, however.

anybody know what goes on in here?

I am perpetually surprised it hasn't been loft-o-fied. Or has it? One of the nice buildings downtown, imo.

Smuncky-Good Bay Street Pics!

Smuncky: You caught Bay Street and many Toronto Downtown buildings like City Hall and Royal Bank of Canada among others-I want to mention those lightbox street signs at Bay and Queen Streets-I wondered if any were still around-like I remembered on my 80s trips-and there they are...I also like the two B/W pics below with those classic old Toronto light brackets..as mentioned by JSWAG above-what is with that man laying on the street there? I expect that stuff in NYC-not Toronto! LI MIKE

i believe it's part of hydro. i'm not sure of what the official name of it is but it's something like a transformer station or something like that.
