Ottawa Transit Developments

not sure if this is the right forum for this but,
why weren't the new Stadler Flirt's ordered with the battery pack option? it would've allowed for cheap(er) electrification of the line and they could be quickly charged during the long dwell times at Bayview and Limebank.

(and on another note, has there been any updates on a Gatineau expansion using the prince of wales bridge)

Any plans to electrify the Trillium Line are very long-term. The current plan for the Prince of Wales bridge is to use it for a multi-use pathway. I believe this is going forward. Any plans for using this bridge for rail transit are also very long-term especially with the latest STO LRT plan to use the Portage Bridge. This really makes sense. The Prince of Wales Bridge is too far west of downtown to be useful as a primary transit connection between Ottawa and Gatineau.

IIRC the FLIRT Akku didn't exist when they were selected, and changing tech so late in an already-late project would have been too risky.
