Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

I don’t think this has been posted: ONTC battery-electric coach pilot. The coach is a Temsa TS 45E manufactured in Turkey. It has an advertised range of 400 kilometres.

Also notable, the last two orders for coaches have gone to Temsa for the diesel TS 45. Two last year and three this year.

So, it might make Sudbury -Toronto or North Bay -Toronto on a change, with no traffic.....

Your statement has an internal inconsistency.

Real world year-round range aside, ONTC would need to fund a dedicated charging bay at wherever it it terminates in Toronto.
I listed 2 of the more popular bus routes ONR Bus operates to show that it have some teething issues. Thinking about it though, the single daily additional Sudbury - North Bay run would be short enough for the bus to make it back to the charging place. Regardless of where they use it, they will need to fund the charging location(s).

So, when is the first ONR passenger train going to leave Toronto for the north?

When will the Northlander service start?
The province is moving forward to implement next steps. Implementation activities include detailed design and engineering, environmental assessment, Indigenous and municipal consultation and procurement and construction related to station and track improvement. In December 2022 Ontario Northland announced that Siemens will be manufacturing the trainsets. We expect delivery of the equipment in time for a mid-2020s launch

presumably there is intense pressure from the Premier’s Office to get at least test runs going in 2025 if Doug wants to go to the polls again while the opposition remains weak.

But ONTC can’t test trains they don’t have, and haven’t been through acceptance and crew training. One wonders if we will see another “proof of concept run” using ONTC’s current equipment to generate another round of holding photo-ops.

Of course, that assumes rolling stock and crew are the only sticking point. Are there any danger signs around the Timmins terminus or other station halts?

Hope to be on the first train.

Same here.

Post count aside, IDK would suffice.
They have said that it will be running by 2026, but there is no date on when exactly. So,'IDK' would be more wrong. They still need to build all the stations, get the trains and then train and test everyone and everything.
