Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 (nCoV-2019)

I put this here as it is clearly a (cheerful) covid-related story. Today I saw the first double-decker sightseeing bus I have seen for 18+ months! 2 people sitting on top of it.

I just got back from a ride up to Parry Sound and over down through Muskoka. All the communities were pretty busy. The Parry Sound dock parking lot was full and the Island Queen tour boat was out. Good to see and no doubt the businesses are happy; it's a sort enough season as it is.

Ford defends Ontarians’ constitutional right to infect their neighbours with Delta variant

Premier Doug Ford firmly rejected the possibility of vaccine passports or forcing immunizations, citing Ontarians’ constitutional right to contract the deadly COVID-19 virus and recklessly spread it among their helpless neighbours.

“We’re not going to have a split society,” Ford said. “We’re just going to have one where most people are responsible and vaccinated, while another smaller group selfishly exposes themselves to increasingly dangerous COVID variants that will mutate into forms that can overwhelm the first group’s vaccinations.”

Ford added, “So by ‘no split society’, I mean to say that soon everyone will be infected with the Delta variant.”

With only 57% of the province’s population having received both vaccines, and deadly variants surging in the less-vaccinated areas of the United States, Conservative insiders say this is the perfect time to fully embrace the honour system and nothing else.

Solicitor General Sylvia Jones insisted Ontario will not enact any sort of proof-of-vaccination system, which could infringe on people’s rights to be huge assholes.

“If Ontarians need to show proof of vaccination to enter a business, which they should never ever be forced to do, we’re encouraging them to show the paper receipts they received. That’s why we made sure they were both incredibly flimsy, and very easy to forge.”

“On top of that,” Jones added, “we’re asking every non-vaccinated Ontarian to pinky swear that they will never lie about their vaccination status, bearing in mind it is their constitutional right to lie to anyone and everyone’s faces.”

Back at the press conference, Ford remained resolute in his determination to protect Ontarians’ right to make each other really, really sick. “I mean, it’s not like there is some provision in the charter that allows the legislature to override people’s rights when it deems fit, which my government invoked mere weeks ago.”

In a related story, Toronto Police announced they will provide escort for an anti-vaccine march this weekend as they personally spit in the mouths of any pedestrians they encounter.
It from the Beaverton. It's a satire... I think.

Things not looking too good in France

French health minister Olivier Veran has said that new Covid-19 infections were increasing at an unprecedented rate due to the Delta variant, after 18,000 cases were reported for the previous 24 hours.

Referring to the latest figures while speaking in parliament, Veran said: “That means we have an increase in the spread of the virus of around 150 percent in the last week: we’ve never seen that, neither with Covid [the original form], nor the British variant, nor the South African or the Brazilian one.”

The level of infections is the highest since mid-May, when the country was emerging from a third nationwide lockdown, AFP reports. France, which is bracing for a fourth wave of infections because of the spread of the Delta variant, has been racing to get as many people vaccinated as possible.

Toronto gym bans vaccinated people from being members

From link.

One of the founders of a gym located in South Etobicoke has made it very clear that he's not looking for business from anyone who's chosen to heed public health advice and get the life-saving COVID-19 vaccine.

Co-founder of Fearless Studios Mohammed Abedeen posted a statement on Instagram and Facebook this week indicating that the gym's boxing club will not be accepting any vaccinated members.

"For The Safety Of Our Members, The Fearless Boxing Club Will No Longer Be Accepting Those Who Received The Experimental Covid Vaccine," he wrote.

"Our Current Members Including Doctors, Nurses, Teachers, Parents And Many Youth Feel Safer Waiting Until More Research Is Done On The Side Effects Being Discovered Right Now."
Fearless Studios was founded by Abedeen, who is a professional boxer, and professional dancer Krystal Glazier-Roscoe during the lockdown with the very goal of flouting public health restrictions.

"BUILT in the lockdown, OPENED in the lockdown & WE'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!!" reads The Fearless Boxing Club's Instagram bio.

Business owners across the country have been advocating for their right to refuse customers who are unvaccianted, especially if case rates increase, but few have taken the opposing stance and vowed to refuse those with immunity to the deadly virus.

The gym is owner is however one of many Ontarians spreading false and misleading information about the COVID-19 vaccine, which is proven to be safe and effective at preventing severe illness and death from the vaccine.
They can always lie about vaccinations.

France is just 90 minutes from Newfoundland. The 6,000 person archipelago Saint-Pierre et Miquelon is officially Territorial Collectivity of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon and is a self-governing territorial overseas collectivity of France.

So yes, there should be some opening.
Well, here you are! Announced today. https://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/planned...re-miquelon-cheered-in-newfoundland-1.5516349

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. -- Chris Sheppard says he's breathing a huge sigh of relief now that international borders between Canada and a clutch of French islands off Newfoundland's coast are set to reopen Aug. 9.

As the executive director of Legendary Coasts, a non-profit promoting tourism in eastern Newfoundland, Sheppard has been leading an effort to get the border open so tourism dollars can flow once again between the two places. He said he hopes to be on the first ferry over to St-Pierre-Miquelon from Newfoundland.

St-Pierre-Miquelon and Newfoundland and Labrador have close tourism ties, but there are also families split across the two jurisdictions, Sheppard said in an interview Tuesday. "It is very special," he said. "These will be the only international residents that will be allowed in Canada until September."

That's a bad business plan. Over 75% of population vaccinated, that severely reduces their clientele.
Fearless Studios: We are so fearless, we serve only unvaccinated clients.

We also offer 100% discounts to anyone who proves that Trump won the 2020 election, the Moon landing never happened, slavery based on one's ethnicity is great, Hitler is innocent, and edgy media are a greater threat to society than COVID-19 ever would be.

Anyone with a brain: Fearless Studios will easily go out of business in less than a year and no reputable banks will finance that health club.
