Next Mayor of Toronto?

Now would Giambrone step into the ring? Pantalone called him out last week saying he was inexperienced and is not ready for the mayor's chair

Now here is a guy i would like to see out of the Toronto political scene...Good Luck Joe.

City Councillor Joe Pantalone To Run For Mayor

There’s another candidate on the ballot for the city’s top job: councillor Joe Pantalone will run for mayor.

The longtime public servant – and current deputy mayor – will file his papers on Wednesday, joining fellow councillor Giorgio Mammoliti.

MPP George Smitherman and Liberal fundraiser Rocco Rossi have also tossed their hats into the ring for Toronto’s top job.

Pantalone was first elected in 1980 and currently represents Ward 19, one of two wards in Trinity-Spadina.

great comment from csgs....
I can't help but notice this is a lot like some Vegas mobster movie with the Italians and the Jews fighting for control of the city. The movie stars Joey "the Pants" Pantalone, "Big Mammi" Giorgo Mammoliti, Rocco "the Red Rock" Rossi and George "the openly gay Jewish guy" Smitherman. But seriously, this isn't funny any more. Can a viable candidate please throw his/her name in the hat/ Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Nice to see Joe go.

How about Thompson??

Rob Ford would make a great mayor , i hope he runs , there is one person who knows how to manage the city's money responsibly and has a record to prove it

He has a record to prove a lot of things. None of which even hint at trying to maybe suggest that he could be mayor.

let's face it this forum is nothing but a conservative candidate bashing ground. The people of toronto will just elect another Liberal / socialist who is good at nothing but wasting tax payers money and raising taxes , we never learn our lesson lol......

I heard that Rob Ford is thinking about running , i honestly don't see how he could be worst then Miller and the rest of these guys running for mayor now

As a measure of Rob Ford's fanbase, note the highlighting.

As you are an accurate measure of his detractors. Formulating an opinion with the most dubios of methods.

Perhaps for some of your next 7000+ posts you could offer up some substance for a change?

Talk about the Godfather- Joey Pants! lol.

if you had to work with a bunch idiots at city hall you would have to take anger management as well :D

Yeah, just imagine working with Rob Ford, for instance! ;)

And let's not assume all those who are not fans of Mr. Ford love David Miller and his henchmen. No one has ever called me a leftist, but Mr. Ford is much, much too visceral for an office as important as the mayor's.

This implies something about me that I do not like and, though I should be living in Toronto by the time the election is held, I currently live in Pickering and so would have nothing to do with electing Toronto's mayor anyway.

Rob Ford used to be my councillor and I've talked to the man. I don't have too much against him but he's a bit.........a bit.......je ne sais quoi (and neither do most psychologists, no doubt).

If Rob Ford ever became mayor.......I think I'd emigrate to Europe, truthfully.

A new poll is out:

Smitherman: 44%
Giambrone: 17%
Rossi: 15%
Carroll: 5%
Pantalone: 5%
Mammoliti: 4%

These numbers are essentially meaningless at this point, as polls this early are simply a measure of name recognition. More useful for measuring the strength of a candidate is the favourable/unfavourable rating.

Smitherman: 42/32
Giambrone: 32/40
Rossi: 24/22
Pantalone: 18/39
