"Any connection to the George's BBQ on Dundas at Pembroke?"

The number of times that I was in there, and that wasn't too often, they seemed to be a Family Operation.
For that reason alone, I would conclude the names of the two restaurants were just the names of
the two restaurants by their individual/separate owners.

There was an Other restaurant, but on the N/W corner of Dundas & Pembroke Streets known as
Norm's Open Kitchen; did I mention Infamous. Both restaurants served chicken, although only at
George's could one also buy Wings, none being available at Norm's; odd thing was,
Norm's Chickens were able to fly after payments were made.

Not sure if the corner of Birch and Yonge has been done before. The impact of the grade separation for the CPR tracks in 1920 on this block is quite remarkable:

Here you go. It can be seen in Google street view, but not close enough to be recognizable.

Yes, but either they laid the stone in some sort of temporary wall (as is not uncommon) or the memorial has been rebuilt.

It's at the right height - perhaps the stone around the bottom is just decorative?
Should have taken a closer look - maybe on a warmer day...

Wasn't the tower itself finished some years later? Somehow the caption's "On this spot a beautiful memorial tower will be erected" suggests that plans were still in flux...

another one from last night -- Moore Avenue looking southwest towards Welland Avenue... bridge over the Belt Line Railway (Mud Creek) was removed and ravine filled in about 50-60 years ago (couldn't find exact date, sorry)
