Are there any other pictures of the Richardson Romanesque building in the 1911 shot?

It was the Freehold Loan and Savings Building, designed by E.J.Lennox, built in 1890, demolished in the 60's (for a parking lot):

Wow, I didn't even know about that one. What a shame, it would look great on that corner today. I really do love Richardson Romanesque architecture.

The obstruction and wear and tear on that "London" sign on the left makes it look like a Guess Who song title.

No. 75 to 85 Bloor St. E., (east from Church St. to St. Paul's) 1923

Thanks to wwwebster for these 'oldies.'

Perhaps someone will visit this neighbourhood (Bloor/Church) to give us a "Now" photo to accompany this "Then" image:

So I'm seeing spiffy new Rexall drug stores sprouting all over the place lately (Spadina and College, Queen and University); and I'm saying to myself; this is an American company, right?, I've seen them all over the USA, now making inroads into Canada to do battle with Shoppers drugs.

Well, I was wrong, it's owned by a Canadian company.

Anyhow, a bit of Googling comes up with some fascinating Rexall history and a neat Toronto angle.

Thanks for those links, Mustapha - really interesting!

I was surprised at your comment, regarding Rexall: "... now making inroads into Canada ..."

I recall that during the 1940s-50s-60s there were plenty of Rexall drug stores in Toronto. They were around for many years.

Mustapha.

All you had to do was ask; how many (some original) blueprints/pics do you require?
(Former Head Office, 68 - 78 Broadview.)
