Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

I can't get the text in focus when I blow it up.

What is notable is what's not there.........the extension to Meadowvale.

But they do show two paths east of Kennedy.

* I would take this with a very large grain of salt, as Mx is known to bring out of date displays to events.
The subway was never planned beyond Line 2 at McCowan. Sheppard East LRT would probably be opened by now if a certain mayor didn't get in the way. We can dream big and hopefully have a subway extension by 2040.

Is there more resolution? I want to know what it says for the Sheppard Line.
The stations seem roughly closely to what TTC has planned back in the ummm 80s. On the west side, they only have Bathurst listed. East extension they have Consumers, Victoria Park, Warden, Kennedy and Brimley (McCowan-Sheppard branch only).

Metrolinx put out communications expressly studying the option of going beyond McCowan, and yes, it was under serious consideration. (and at some level still is........)

Does anyone know what does the dots scattered all over the map represent?
If it's like any other Metrolinx town halls or community meeting maps, then attendees can put a sticker on the map of where they live or have interest in. The clumps on the edge probably mean from a city that isn't shown on the map.

Okay thanks. I was wondering what the dots in the attached pic from chrisw represent as I saw the dots similar to the pic before when I attended a Metrolinx Community Meeting where the dots in my case represented on a scale of if they liked the station design for the upcoming SSE and also what Scarborough/Animal symbols should be on the wall of the station.

Where would it potentially go?

It’s just the projects current status:

I'm pretty sure they made it to say they are listening to the public but their minds are made up. Ford's opinion is the only one that really matters.

Besides, the 985B Sheppard express buses were getting low ridership to the point they added more stops. Ridership would be much more problematic than a west extension. A frequent bus is still necessary to the Malvern neighbourhood.

As someone in on that conversation................no.

Yes, the public's opinion is only tangential. But there are/were real reasons to consider different options.

The point of going east of McCowan has nothing to do with ridership. At least not where Morningside/Sheppard were the termination point.

John Lorinc with a column in The Star echoing my concerns over Michael Lindsay's appointment as Mx CEO:

Then going on to rightly trash P3s.....which as UT regulars will know I have been doing for some time now....(years) as they make no sense whatsoever.

Though an inquiry is definitely warranted, it’s not going to happen. Though it was bad under the McGuinty/Wynne government, Metrolinx is now even more controlled by the Minister’s Office and the Premier’s Office. They call the shots.

All communications go through those political offices; all direction comes from it too. When Doug Ford decided he was going to rename a major transit line for a political ally and crony, it was done. Metrolinx just implemented it, without pushing back. It took me months to get FOI records because of all the back and forth between the MO, PO, and the Metrolinx silos.

So why would Ford submit to an inquiry?
