I was at Eglinton GO Station yesterday and got some pictures of what's been going on there.

Siemens Mobility announced it will provide track, signal and right-of-way maintenance services for Metrolinx in Toronto. The company’s digital tools and software will help deliver rail data to provide Metrolinx with 24-hour service. Siemens currently provides services and products to the transit agency, including signal and communications back-office support and fault control services at Metrolinx’s Network Operations Center in Oakville, Ontario.

Not sure how many trains they need to store but there is a siding there that connects through Bond Park. There is space to add additional tracks there. Or maybe they expropriated a building and will use that space to build a maintenance facility there.
They say (or said) it was only a layover facility but there were suspicions they had plans to do more there. Good they are out of the Don Valley!

just in time for VIA HFR to take over the Don Valley rail route anyway :)

I suspect that was the real reason Metrolinx moved it - it conflicted with VIA's plans to resuscitate that line for regular service..
They still need a small building to house snow removal equipment and the cleaning crew to keep their equipment.

Who? GO will need this for the siding by Bond Park, but not on the previous site.

VIA HFR, should it make use of this trackage will not be parking trains there.
