Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Perhaps there is another member of the Ford Clan somewhere

On Bizarro Earth, maybe.

Maybe a Councillors chief assistant could take over. That way the same type of policies and ideas would continue.

Maybe they should revise the law, custom, in advance of this happening

1982 was the last year where there were Toronto municipal elections every two years. The next elections was every three years, starting in 1985. That lasted until 2006. Then it went to every four years, followed by elections in 2010 and 2014.

Before 1956, the municipal elections were every year.

So having an by-election more than a year in advance of the general election is nothing to worry about.

See this link for a list of Toronto municipal elections.

Someone should write an article criticizing some of Mayor Miller's policies too!

There *have* been such articles, especially in conservative-media places like the Toronto Sun and beyond. Trouble is, more often than not they suffer from an eye-rolling "usual-suspectism"; but for you to act as if said "someones" don't and have never existed is a little rich...

I would be thoroughly entertained if Miller ran in 2018 and again defeated Tory. I'm sure he's at least considered the idea. Surely this editorial didn't come out of nowhere
