I went out for my last cig. on the balcony before bed and caught what appears to be testing for klieg lighting somewhere south of the TD Centre. It is much more dramatic and brighter than they appear in the photos. Any ideas what all these lights could be for? Never seen so many, and so bright on such a clear (and smog-free) evening. I think there were twelve in all.

Preparing for Luminato?

Thank you Canuck, you are correct.

From The Star -

Harbourfront and the Distillery District, linked by a floating art gallery, will be alive with all kinds of things to do

Twenty pulsing, uber-bright searchlights will pierce the night sky May 31, flicking the switch on a 10-day Luminato festival that will stretch from Bathurst to Parliament Sts. and from the waterfront to Bloor St. June 1-10.

But the beating heart of the festival, quite literally, will be at the Harbourfront Centre.

Home base for the pulsating white beams, Harbourfront will host a large share of festival activities, including free concerts and a weekend's worth of carnival-themed celebrations.

Looks like I'll be out of town too that first weekend. I'll miss the big ROM opening. Oh well, I've got a few things planned as soon as I get back for the remander of Luminato.

I'll look forward to seeing the searchlights from my south-facing window at my apartment!
