As Assistant Editor, you will work closely with the Managing Editor and participate in all stages of the publication processes at UrbanToronto.

Responsibilities:

  • Source, research and write daily articles
  • Choose support materials, like images and illustrations
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of editorial
  • Manage, edit and publish written work
  • Work under daily and weekly deadlines
  • Liaise with clients and industry members
  • Work with team members such as freelance writers, photographers, writers
  • Produce custom content when required
  • Compile and deploy weekly newsletter
Qualifications:

  • Education in Communications, News Reporting or related field
  • Background in Real Estate, Planning, Architecture or related field is a big plus
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Ability to handle daily deadlines and tight timelines
  • Experience with web editing tools and software, Photoshop, Mailchimp, basic HTML
  • Photo editing experience a bonus
  • Knowledge of Toronto development, real estate, and architecture
  • Creative, energetic and an entrepreneurial spirit is a must!

UrbanToronto is seeking a Social Media Coordinator to join our team. If you are a team player with an entrepreneurial spirit, we want to talk to you!

As Social Media Coordinator you will be responsible for maintaining a strong social media presence for UrbanToronto. Your role will be to create and implement online marketing strategies through all of our social media accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging social media posts, images, videos and stories
  • Attend events and produce live social media content
  • Assist with the development of social media strategy
  • Encourage communication and participation on our social media profiles
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with industry members and influencers
  • Create and execute promotional plans for partners
  • Generate reports showing social media growth
  • Participate in site's discussion forum


Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience in digital and social media
  • Experience in buying digital advertising
  • Clear understanding of metrics and ability to analyze in an effective manner
  • Direct experience using Hootsuite
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Superior communication skills
  • Ability to handle daily deadlines and tight timelines
  • Knowledge of GTA urban development, architecture and real estate
  • Creative, energetic and an entrepreneurial spirit is a must!

UrbanToronto is expanding and we're looking for freelance writers! Excellent command of the written word and previous writing experience is a must.

Candidates should also have expertise in at least two of these areas related to the GTHA: development, planning, architecture, real estate, transportation, urban issues, photography, history.

Primary duties would include researching and writing news stories, features, interview-based articles and occasional reporting from events.
