Islington Village / Six Points (Etobicoke)

What is the update of this area? It is there for decades and should be there any actions done? Has developers stepped in to invest in these areas?

There's an auto-oriented reconstruction that's possible too. One might simply see a reconfigured ramp system, or a politicized hybrid of some ramps and some traditional intersections that won't be very functional for any user.

Why not just build a circle. Isn't that supposed to be the wave of the future for intersections? This would be the most logical place for one with three streets intersecting.

I think so, too, but apparently it would be new and take some time getting used to for drivers, which planners deemed unacceptable. So instead we'll have a strange grid with a new jog for Dundas because a roundabout is supposedly too radical.

Construction happening at the Canadian Legion building near Bloor and Islington. Any information as to what will be going there?

It looks like we will be getting the YMCA soon. Westwood theatre will be demolished during the spring/summer time.

"Since 2006, the YMCA has been in discussions with the City of Toronto regarding the development of a YMCA Centre of Community at the corner of Dundas Street West and Kipling Avenue in central Etobicoke.
The proposed 60,000 sq ft YMCA Centre of Community would provide supportive programming and services to more than 8,100 people and help the community get healthy and active.
The facility will have “green design features” where appropriate, and could include pool(s), gym, youth games room, children’s activity zone, multi-purpose meeting rooms, child-minding, fitness studios."

There is some construction going on at the corner of Islington and Bloor in Bloor Islington Place (formerly The Shipp Centre, Clarica Centre and Sun Life Financial Centre). A large addition is being built on the south east corner of the mall and will house a Sobey's. Many decor and store changes are happening to the rest of the mall as well.

Looks like they have begun the excavation and grading of the new Six Points interchange south of Bloor. I assume they are going to re route traffic before taking down the bridges ?
