While Denmarks' wind power system may be reliable, it is variable in terms of output. About 20% of electricity is generated by wind in that country. Only two-and-a-half percent of electricity is generated by wind in the rest of Europe.
While it might be convenient to compare Denmark to Ontario, it is not accurate. There is considerably more wind available for use in Denmark. It is a country with a population of 5.4 million people in an area of about 43,000 square kilometres (think Lake Ontario). Denmark also has cool summers compared to Ontario, so not as much demand on air conditioning - which is a considerable energy draw here.
Is that to say wind power should be neglected here? No, absolutley not. But comparisons have to be undertaken with care.
