Hyatt Regency Toronto Airport (Regal Constellation site)

Does anybody know if the Hyatt Regency near the airport is dead? Since it was announced in December, 2007, it seems to have gone away. I assume the land is flat and cleared, but perhaps the proposal is not moving forward.

Sagecrest II LLC, the mother company of the local subsidiary that bought the Regal Constellation, has filed for bankruptcy in Connecticut.

The (very) long list of creditors includes Terrasan, the company currently doing demolition at the site, as well as the Canadian Revenue Agency.

I'm not entirely sure how this news will affect the Merchant Equity Group/Sagecrest partnership, but I imagine the Hyatt proposal is now in serious doubt.

Archivist, since the previous story above, I don't think anything has happened on the site. No more tear-down by Terrasan had been apparent for a while when I last drove by the airport last week. The cheese grater still stands!

I'm glad the grater is still there. The other building struck me as dispensable, but we like the grater. Perhaps it could be placed on the inventory?

I'm not sure if any of the recent respondents have been by this site lately, but there has been activity going on again for the past couple of months.

The parking structure is completely gone, the older tower is now gutted and ready for demolition, and it appears that the newer building along Dixon is also being prepped for flattening.
