The Ontario Superior Court dismissed an attempt by Hudson’s Bay Co. to have the province’s lockdown restrictions struck down or modified to allow its stores to open alongside competitors such as Walmart and Costco which are permitted to open because they sell essential items including groceries.
“We are disappointed in the court’s decision,” a spokesperson for HBC said in statement, adding that the reasons have yet to be delivered, and will be reviewed with options to appeal considered.

HBC could have opened a grocery section and call it Zellers Grocery or similar. It would be a good way to reuse the name of HBC's former discount retail banner.

This, even though many of those same workers are employed by stores that currently aren't open; it appears litigation (and bad PR) are in the offing.

Online fashion retailer ASOS has bought the Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge, and HIIT brands from their collapsed parent company, Arcadia Group.
ASOS have agreed to purchase the brands themselves along with the transfer of some staff in certain backend departments (in the UK?). However, it remains uncertain what will happen with the remaining physical stores themselves. Along with what kind of impact, if any, towards the partnership stores with HBC.
Within the past few weeks 50 stores have already closed, with the loss of about 2,000 jobs.
