Have you won the housing ‘birth-year lottery’?

I have to admit I won the above lottery. Born in 1970s, so working full time by the mid-1990s, bought in a depressed part of town before gentrification. Two other factors from the article also applied, help from family inheritance and two incomes through marriage. I can't imagine trying to afford a house now.

I didn't win but was able to buy right before things got ridiculously crazy. I'm closer to 40 than I am to 30. ?

Seems like it's mostly to do with when you bought in. I know people in their 20s who bought a home and another family who are in their 50s who just purchased.

I’ll be 50 in March and I‘ve been thinking of buying a seaside house in the UK, maybe in Cornwall or like this place in Whitby, https://www.zoopla.co.uk/new-homes/...h_identifier=7a0dc77998349f75bb4479b79acfb556

My wife isn’t an UK citizen though, so we’d only stay for six months out of the year. I don’t think I’ll ever sell my Toronto house, that’ll go to my kids when I croak.
