got a job in Markham, any suggestions for where to live?

I didn't see anyone else mention it, so I will - the Downtown Markham development is going in right across the street from IBM.

It's a whole "New Urbanism" project with nice condos, a community centred around a big piazza etc.

It looks like it will really be something else and it's very much aimed at
young professionals working at the head offices nearby (um, like IBM).
The only catch is that I think it'll be about a year or so until the first units are ready for move-in. But, at the risk of sounding like I'm advertising for them, I'd say it's worth a look if you're even considering living north of Steeles. (You'd actually be able to walk to work for one thing..)

I'd say it's not a bad place in the long term, but it's going to be many years before Downtown Markham starts feeling like a neighbourhood and not a construction site.

There's also lots of condos going in north of IBM along #7 (Markham Centre), but I don't think they'll have as much of a "charming neighbourhood with retail and parks" feel as Downtown Markham.
