GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

The aluminum infrastructure/cabling raceways being installed on every platform, as seen here and here

Here's a view from Platforms 12/13 this morning.

When I stepped into the platform, it took me a moment to figure out why things seemed brighter.

I was impressed when I first saw the new enhancements. It actually looks kinda modern. A whole new ambience.

I barely noticed the Bush Trainshed under the new stuff.

^ Replying to myself, I can't remember what it's called or where to find the rendering. Anyone have a copy?

^ yes, thanks
Isn't that a separate project that's already in procurement?

Tendered separately when the timeline was still targeting 2025.

Many Union Corridor track-work pieces were rolled into the larger tender when the timeline was extended. I expect the reconfiguration of Union Station (including decisions about what that looks like) were rolled in at the same time.

Those separate tenders haven't been officially cancelled but they do seem to be in a holding pattern; perhaps to be revived if there are no qualified/affordable bids for the giant DBOFM.

^ Certainly appears to be a separate project but maybe they grouped it under "GO Expansion: Union Station Upgrade - Platform Expansion"?

Passed thru Union on the way to the Jays game. 1 pre-game pic on Platforms 6/7, rest are after looking south from west-end of Platform 4

Tactile edging done. Definite improvement in lighting/brightness. New screens installed, not yet activated.

One those screens are lit up (and the temporary lighting transfers to the new permanent lighting built into those utilities ducts)...

...It finally look like proper 21st century old-station-retrofit infrastructure rather than a Happy New Year 1983 dated train station platform look.

Welcome to the 21st century. Finally.
