GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The Brampton Innovation District sponsorship is arguably even worse because it doesn't save any money for taxpayers. The money for the sponsorship comes from the City of Brampton, who are completely funded by taxpayers.

So the renaming makes wayfinding worse without providing any financial return for the people being negatively impacted.

"Brampton Innovation District GO" takes up as much space as 3 to 4 reasonably named stations

The same is also partially true for Durham College Oshawa GO (but not Oshawa Via which is the same station), considering that Durham College is partially funded by taxpayers.

And don't even get me started on how many departure screens in bus terminals exclusively play ads instead of displaying the bus departures. What an insult to transit riders.

"Wanna know when this bus is departing or what the next bus is? Too bad for you, should have rented a car instead"
- GO Transit, probably (image from Route 41 at Bramalea GO Station)

They learned well from the TTC, where you need a telephoto lens or a telescope to see when the next train is coming unless you're standing right under a board.

When does dispatching switch over from GO to CN when travelling from Burlington to Aldershot. I've been noticing that westbound trains will sometimes stop slightly short in the platform at Burlington and then have to wait for permission to roll forward and align the accessibility platform. Is this due to dispatching switchover.

GO's tracks end and CN's begin at the signals at Burlington West, which is at the signal bridge about 600 metres west of the platforms.

There are no signals in the vicinity of Burlington Station that would cause the situation that you're describing, so I'd suggest that it has nothing to do with the signals at all.

Hey considering we’re going to elections twice soon who here is waiting to be disappointed that there is no Milton line upgrade in anyone’s election plans. But don’t worry somewhere wayyyyy behind the scenes they’re working on it.

First time i've had Google's AI search paraphrase my own writing back to me... Yet another reminder that the AI overview would happily parrot whatever I wrote on my blog even if I made my facts up (I didn't, but I could have).

FWIW - on a trip to Aurora this week, my GO train passed a CN roadswitcher that was delivering two cars of lumber to the lumberyard in King City. This customer had switched to truck delivery, and hadn't seen a railcar in a very long time....but I am told they returned to rail deliveries late last year. There has been a tweak to their siding trackage which allows a much simpler switching move, so there is no need for the work window and bustitutions that previously affected GO service whenever a shipment was delivered.
CN has retained customers in the Concord and Maple area, but that area has more siding space and sending a freight that far up the Barrie line has never affected GO operations. The King City customer is located on single track so a bit more challenging to fit the switch into a 2WAD operation.
It's nice to see one more bit of business for the railways - and it is a reminder that ML and CN can cooperate when the will is there.

Good question. I don't know, but word of mouth says that business has been gone for a while also. I hope it can be revived.

Although we no longer live in the area, I'm not aware that there has been any revenue-generating traffic in Bradford, or Newmarket or Aurora, for years.
