GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Federal agency investigating hours-long GO train delay outside Hamilton GO Centre

Incidents like this one are probably why freight companies are reluctant to share their tracks with passenger services.

Genuine question: Are we sure it's not freight companies causing these problems in the first place? Prioritizing freight traffic over passenger, not maintaining trackside infrastructure etc.

Easily resolved here by digging down the Hunter St. Tunnel and putting in two tracks. One can be dedicated to Mx at all times, the other to CPKC and they can steer clear of one another.

***

Also not really an excuse in regards to not sharing tracks. This line isn't busy, and this type of screw up doesn't nee to be possible. Just run the railway properly .

*Easily resolved*, *dig a tunnel and lay down two tracks*

Well, you can say whatever you want, but clearly CPKC was not happy, as they were quick to launch an investigation and get the Feds involved.

No doubt if this were a GO train on MX owned tracks, it would have been entirely swept under the rug.

EDIT: If anything, this just goes to show how much CPKC must despise the fact that they share their Galt subdivision (Milton line) with GO and future negotiations to improve service on the Milton line will be hard pressed.

No new tunnel. Just a dig down and underpin. There were two tracks originally in this corridor, CPKC removed one.

I say what's factually accurate and provable. My track record here speaks for itself.

CPKC did not get the Feds involved. Where did you get that idea from?

Mx incidents are often highly public simply due to the nature of having dozens to 1,000+ witness on board.

However, Mx tracks are not subject to federal regulation, as a general rule.

You're really into completely making stuff up today, are you okay? Seriously.

CPKC and the Government of Ontario already have an understanding on the future of their track and GO service in the GTA. You'll hear about it soon enough.

It's in the title of the article. Can you read?

Also in the artcile;
"Now the Transportation Safety Board (TSB), an independent federal agency that probes marine, air and rail accidents, told The Spectator it is also reviewing the Hamilton incident."

Yeah, that was my point.

Looking forward to it.

Why are you being so rude? I can read fine. The Feds are not investigating at the behest of CPKC and the article doesn't say that. You're reading it wrong. They are investigating of their own accord.

Bruh... semantics. The point is the feds got involved. Something that we both know wouldn't have happend on MX owned tracks.

I am not your Bruh and it is not semantic.

You were trying to credit CPKC for something they did not do.

A good reminder to flag these kinds of things with the CSA. The article says the person got on at Markham.

I assume if the CSA was told they would have taken the train out of service well before it reached the Union? Or maybe closed off that coach?

Is there a non-paywall link to the article?

Certain types of events must be reported to TSB and for the most part they decide whether the matter meets their criteria for investigation.

The concept of a major railway asking for TSB's involvement leaves me.... intrigued.

All I gotta say is...

Bruh!!!🤯🤯🤯

That is most certainly what should have happened, had staff discovered or had been made aware.

We don't know how this transpired however.
