GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

So a weekend GO train to Stratford, but can't put one weekend train on the Milton line? Glad to see priorities with Uncle Dougies government. Thus ends my rant instead of destroying my computer.
Save the computer. RAM prices are still too spicy.

I'm glad Stratford is coming back, hopefully it razor-and-blades into something better, including trackwork on both sides of Kitchener.

Perhaps the upcoming corridor-helping (bypass or otherwise) rumors will allude to that.

This CP24 article has some Stratford ridership details.

16,000 riders annually is an average of 43.8 riders per day, or about 22 riders per train.
That seems like a reasonable, conservative estimate. IIRC the previous pilot was seeing around 30 riders per trip get on/off at Stratford per trip by the end of service.

If there’s one thing to take away from the April service changes and this new Stratford service, is that we would get 2 counter peak trains to Kitchener, plus a 3rd overall weekend train which allows people to take the train in the morning instead of waiting until the afternoon or taking the bus.

These new trains by extension helps the people heading to Guelph for a day or even if you want to go as far as Owen Sound. The new 8:49AM train gets to Guelph at 10:05AM which can connect you to the 10:38AM GOST bus.

I would’ve also preferred if it stopped at Mount Dennis over Bloor, just feel like its a perfect balance in the future for the overall express trains to do Union -> Mount Dennis -> Bramalea to expand the network in Toronto.
Totally agree. Once the pedestrian tunnel opens to Dundas West I'd give them about equal importance but in the meantime Mount Dennis provides much more added value than Bloor because of how much time it saves for people heading to/from midtown or North York. Dundas West saves less time for the people who use it since it's closer to Union and you lose a bunch of time walking between the TTC and GO stations.
It’s most likely because of the current construction of both the St Clair-Old Weston and Woodbine Stations that they could only do Bloor before skipping everything and going straight to Bramalea, and without interfering with the the peak direction trains as well as the local counter peak ones.
The Kitchener line is reduced to 2 tracks from just north of Mount Dennis to the USRC. There are no crossovers between Mount Dennis and Bloor so it makes no difference which one of those stations the train serves. It will enter and exit the segment at the same time either way.

Here's the consolidated GO/UP timetable around the counter-peak trains:
