GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

@crs1026 will be terribly impressed. LOL

I'm sure he's duly awaiting a Metrolinx update on GO Expansion - "Due to the Jays playoff run in 2025, we're now 4 years behind schedule. Who knew those weekends were so crucial? Not us! "

Variation on Biblical quote for the above; " a day with Metrolinx is like a 1,000 days...." (I was tempted to stick to years....... LOL)
2 Peter 3:8 states,
"But do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day".

A thousand years. That’s how Milton line riders feel.

Everyone is so hard on Metrolinx. They are getting the work done, that is what matters. Speaking of, here is a before and after picture of the portal near Sunnybrook... great progress!

The new train schedules effective October 27 have been uploaded.

@reaperexpress is duly notified.

Lakeshore West shows seven trips daily running east from Confederation, at 5:50am, 6: 51am, 7:38am, 11:08am, 2:04pm, 7:07pm, 9::02'

Ok........weirdly.......only six trips go back the other way.

GO Niagara (weekend) doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Departs Union at: 9:04am, 11:09am, 5:07pm, 8:18pm.

The overcrowded run was the early run, it would have made sense to me to have 2 departures fairly close together.

****

New peak service LSE , I'm not going to parse the run times right now, don't have time. I do not, no express, all local, all-stop, with every 10 minute service for a good chunk of the AM

From Whitby, every 10M, 6:28am to 7:58am

Does this schedule also show the service increase to Niagara starting on Nov. 1st?

Stouffville:

New 7:59am southbound from Unionville GO arriving Union at 8:40am.
New 4:50 PM northbound from Union Station arriving at Unionville GO at 5:31 pm.

Both these peak trips are 10mins earlier than the train going to/from Old Elm.

Niagara weekend:

Returning trips are at 7:58pm and 10:04pm, before it was 8:17pm on Sundays and 9:17pm on Saturdays.

Barrie:

New Southbound from Aurora GO at 7:20AM, Aurora GO now has 15min service from 7:05-7:50AM. Northbound from Union from 4:53pm to Aurora Go.

Yes, 3 new AM peak trips. Regarding the 3 new peak trips in the afternoon, there's now 10M service from 4:03PM to 5:23pm. (Also there's trains at 3:50pm and 5:35pm)

Checked the GO website and saw that LW trains won't be running this weekend, and will be running buses to Bramalea GO. The issue with this is that not only is Bramalea so far out of the way if you're already at Lakeshore and your intent would be to get to Union or Exhibiton or anywhere else in Toronto, but the Kitchener trains only run at hourly service. MX you might as well just run the buses to Union direct, or serve both Bramalea and 407 Terminal so people get a flexibility option in case they miss the hourly train, or even go to Kipling to the bus terminal that you guys literally own... At least on the bright side we finally get the 56 running on a weekend for once.

Regarding the new LSE/W timetable - I travel from Danforth to St. Catharines every Friday making use of the only through-running service of the day. However, I recall it leaving Union at 1721 and the Union-NF segment of the trip seems to have been moved earlier to 1700. Is there any information on whether this unidirectional Oshawa-Niagara Falls run will still exist post 27th Oct (with the corresponding LSE trip segment also moved earlier)?

This is a pretty big deal: https://www.ctvnews.ca/kitchener/article/metrolinx-extending-weekend-go-trains-to-kitchener/

Starting on Nov. 23, four existing weekend trips that had previously stopped at Mount Pleasant GO will now continue on to Kitchener GO.

Meanwhile, a weekday trip that had been stopping at Guelph Central GO will carry on to Kitchener GO.

Metrolinx is also adding 18 new weekend trips between Bramalea GO and Union Station, two new weekday trips between Bramalea and Union Station, and two existing weekday trips will be extended from Malton GO to Bramalea GO.

The service agreements are welcome, the agreement with CN is indeed a very big deal. Now let’s hear the detailed plan and construction schedule.
The tipping point will be when counter peak trains are announced.
