Noise walls are being installed in King City on the Barrie line, from Keele to Dufferin, starting next month.
To my layman‘s eyes the choke point will be between USRC and the bridge over Eastern Ave/East Harbour station. I do not see how a third track can fit here until the berm is widened.@smallspy do you have a sense on the timing of getting a third track up and running on the LSE (Danforth to Union)
I wonder if the Cooksville bridge is the one over Hurontario at Cooksville GO. Considering there's ongoing construction at the bridge now for the LRT, it seems like a great time to finish that up and then start up construction for something else.Metrolinx is pre-qualifying contractors for some minor GO Construction work on bridges:
Procurement Pipeline
Prequalified Vendors only will be eligible to bid on the following opportunities to be released within the next twelve (12) months:
- Construction Services for Bridge Rehabilitation at M.34.30 Newmarket Subdivision
- Newmarket 31.50 Rehabilitation
- Mimico Bridge Replacement
- Cooksville Bridge Replacement
To replace the Hurontario bridge, they will have to put in centre piers for the two tracks now and don't see any provision for it at this time. Then there is the need for new piers on both sides of the existing sidewalks that will require the closing one side of the street to do it at a time and nothing so far. The big issue to you and others that currently use the stairs to the GO station will see the removal of them to put in the pier for the 3rd track as that stair is in the way for the 3rd track, It is possible they will put in a new stair when they replace the existing track 1 bridge or after they do it, I expect the new track 1 bridge will be a full length one in one piece that will be drop in on a weekend after the existing bridge is remove.I wonder if the Cooksville bridge is the one over Hurontario at Cooksville GO. Regardless, if they do this, I imagine they'll widen it to accommodate the future track on the north side of the existing platform where they already have the yellow line installed for that future track.
The whole corridor is under CPKC control, but will allow ML to look after it since they are doing the LRT work now as well paying for it. No different to this bridge than when ML rebuilt the Toronto West Diamond, other than CPKC calls the shots when things can happen as well when the line(s) have to be back in service as well close.I would have thought the Cookeville bridge réhabilitation would have been a CPKC tendered project as they are the owners of the right of way. Even if Metrolinx for some reason was footing 100% of the cost, it would still be a CPKC led project if my understanding of how these contracts work.
Ah I'm sure they got some hopes up linking it to the flyover.Heritage Road Layover construction. Someone snapped a picture and posted it to Reddit.

In terms of actual construction there has been some work occurring around the future station for phase 1 already. Duke Street (very end of the future station platforms) was closed for weeks this past summer as gas lines were relocated.
